Adblue has nothing to do with the DPF John, it is for the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) part of the treatment before the DPF stage. Have a look at this video -it should explain it:

So AdBlue is in addition to DPF Additive John. and as you have a Euro 6.1 standard X7 (2015) you should have a separate reservoir for the SCR system:
Urea.PNG
Urea 2.PNG
So the first is the SCR reservoir tank and the second diagram is the fuel tank and DPF additive tank.

Edit - No SCR on a 2010 X7

No wish to derail this thread off topic but in the HGV industry the AdBlue has been about for years and when it dries it goes into salt like crystals which blocks both the injector and the pump, expensive to replace £2-4k depending on marque and that is using approx 22 litres every 3 weeks.
When it flows it is okay, leave it a stagnant it causes problems, HGV dealers are like Car dealers, replace do not fix :(

Yes, but this doesn't go anywhere near the injectors Colin - it gets injected into the SCR Catalyst from a separate tank - nothing connected to the fuel or additive tank so I can't see how - it only treats the NOx gasses, nothing else, so I'm not getting that at all :-k

My X7 is Euro 5 (2010) so no Adblue. However daughter's C4 1.6 HDI (2018) uses it. The filler is in the boot.

#-o Too many John's with X7s - I was thinking of the other John who has a 2015 C5 X7

Apologies - no you won't have this on a 2010 - ignore my earlier comments - I'll edit them out!

Right - with you now Colin. To be honest, I've not heard anything thus far about these in the 6 years they've been out - so will be interesting to see if any faults start developing.

I regularly post in the Peugeot Forums Mk2 308 area and no-one there has yet posted with that problem. Quite a few with AdBlue pumps that have failed (due to the faulty caps that were initially fitted) but not that.

I'm pleased mine doesn't have that! I'm going to get my Lexias fired up today, hopefully, try and find whey they wont work. The get as far as selecting the car and then wont connect - perhaps I am doing something wrong.

I am really delighted with this car, it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. I drove the 406 briefly last night and it feels quite uncouth in comparison.

When you start getting towards the 80k mile mark, the warning could come on at any time. - Again, as per my previous post, is determines from the estimated quantity of fluid remaining and the miles to go before the next due service as to whether there is enough additive. If not, then it will flag the warning message and light up earlier to give you adequate notice to get it topped up. If you carry on regardless, ultimately it will go into back up mode, prevent limit engine revs, stop assisted regeneration and as a consequence the filter may start to clog - and once it clogs anywhere from 70% upwards, it may no longer be possible to regenerate the filter, necessitating removal and deep cleaning or replacement.

It's a good system and one developed and patented by PSA - that does get rid of 99.9% of particulate matter. It really only needs doing once or twice over the life of the vehicle, so not a big price to pay for the extra MPG. Of course from 2013 the Blue HDI models with SCR have further NOx reduction, so ADblue urea (cow pee) is used to convert 90% of NOx into harmless water.

So it's unfortunate that even these latest clean diesels are all tarred with the same polluting spin by politicians who encouraged us to buy them in the first place and even now, probably haven't got the faintest clue how clean they are or how they work! [They're not paid to think but to obey Corporates].

And when we are all forced to go electric ultimately - no doubt the next big scandal will be the forced relocation of indigenous groups in South America and the like because all the lithium rich brine being extracted leaving no water to support the locals. Atacama is one such place in Chile. [African countries are currently being stripped similarly in the name of EcoLectricCarFascism, at the behest of their similarly incorruptible far-thinking leaders].
Righto.

Just looked at the service record and Citroen checked the level in May '18 at 136k miles, its done 7k since by what I considered, when buying, a fairly good if 'demanding' driver.

As for AdBlue and it being mainly being cowpee, well manufacturers will have to find a substitute for that too then when cattle farming gets banned by Eco&VeggieManiacs. See the story about the new fashionista head of Goldsmiths College today, she's banned beef on the campus. Previously she flew to China of all places on a regular basis for... fashion?! She's worried about the UKs CO2 output though. Couldn't make that up.

^ Classic - sums it all up really. Imposing her beliefs on everyone else at the College is a bit like a dictatorship. So my contribution was a double beef Quaterpounder yesterday for lunch, with extra plastic cheese; no side orders of rabbit food either and minus those disgusting green pickles.

Looks like you have found the right car Peter, for someone who has had multiple XM's then for you to have a smile on your face speaks volumes for the C5 =D>

And to be fair the 406 is not a bad car to drive either, but welcome to the C5 X7 happiness club :rofl2:

Thanks. I have tried or enquired about so many cars for soft suspension I never thought I would find one. I wasn't overly impressed with the Mk1s so dismissed the idea of Citroen but this is a whole new ball game.
