Thats a nice little car but pre July 2008 road tax is €413.00. Like I said some idiot then decides it's value is something mad like €2500.00 and they stick you for 1/3 of that plus you have to tax and test it within 7 days

Ouch ouch and ouch again!!! :( Looks like you will be taxed off the road altogether soon!!! Perhaps you should look for a 4 wheeled bicycle :-D :-D :-D Does that test it and tax it apply if you buy it over the border, or if its registered in the UK? :?:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Any imported car has to be registered, duty paid, taxed etc within 7 days. Electric cars are free of road tax.

I've watched 'Stop search seize' a few times, the border between north and south nobody wants already exists when it comes to cars. :-D roadside checks, car confiscated if you're not properly registered and can't find the cash on the spot. I think it's 20% of the value and they decide the value.

Some guys come down from Northern Ireland with red diesel in their cars its an instant €2500.00 fine. Yes some parts of the border are enforced rigorously, they reckon 30% of the people on the island are loyal to the crown but 99% are loyal to the half crown.

I was told there was a black market in 50p pieces across the border at some time because they worked both sides of the border but had different values in the Punt and Pound currency, not sure if it still works with the Euro.
