MA3.0 has a map sensor. But the haynes doesnt show it in any of its literature or pictures. I would speak to a citroen dealer about this one, the dealer will know if it has one all not. I know sure my 1.4 which is equipped with the MA3.0 has one. And the symptoms described sound similar to mine when the map sensor failed.

Haynes doesn't show one in the wiring diagram either. But all the other sensors are shown as described. Which says to me that there isn't one fitted!

That appears to tie in with the Haynes description, i.e. no MAP sensor.
What was it that made you think the MAP sensor was the problem? Have you had the car serviced recently as CITMAN said? The most likely cause of your problems is air or fuel filters or spark plugs / HT leads. Failing that, take it to a Bosch specialist who will be able to diagnose the fault. (Dare I say better than the Citroen dealers? Yes, I think I dare! Probably much cheaper too.)

yes serviced regular, new plugs recently, air filter, fuel filter, leads are about 12 months old. i also noticed that the 2 vacum pipes on the air filter casing were the wrong way round so when the engine was cold it was not taking air from the exaust manifold. It also has regular oil & filter changes every 4000 miles.

From top down :
Left side of diagram :
Diagnostic socket -
Instrument panel ECU fault lamp -
CSS = flywheel ignition sensor
TPS = throttle position switch
AVSM = stepper motor
ATS = Air temp sensor
Injector resistor
Right side of diagram :
IGC = Ignition coil
Supply feed & control connector
Road speed sensor
HEGO = Lambda sonde (Oxygen sensor)
CFSV = charcoal canister purge valve
CTS = coolant temp sensor
The MA3.0 has no MAP sensor !
- or at least this diagram does not show a MAP sensor !

Yes it does ill take photo of my engine bay and point it out. Probably post it sometime in the week. My zx is 94 model and has the KDX (TU3MC L/Z) distributorless ignition MA3.0. Trust me it has a map sensor.

I have a zx avantage 1.4i (TU3 peugeot i believe) the same engine that is in the 106.. i recently started having problems with engine cutting out for no reason at all doesnt even give any warning anyway i work for a peugeot dealer and a techy had a look for me..the map sensor on my zx is located on the bulkhead just above the master cylinder the car is a 1995 model but was an import so not sure if it makes any difference its a right hand drive though havent replaced the map sensor but replaced the coil and still get it so i think map sensor will be next also took stepping motor out and cleaned it up and cleaned all electrical connections under the bonnet if it is not the map sensor then i'll scrap it [:D]
Any idea's???

Sorry, but I've yet to see any evidence of a MAP sensor on this engine!
