It rains a lot but not now............stalk cable fixed, but engine still very sick.

The throttle pedal position sensor seems to stop working during warm up and the engine mis fires and dies. OBD shows igntion all over the place....and now the speedo has decided to not work!! no numbers just 2 lines, horizontal from memory.

Any ideas?

Hi gmab, busy welding up the pug. When the delphi was on the car with engine running and misbehaving, no fault codes came up. During that session the speedo decided to die, so we gave up and just parked the xsara.

When pug welded and mot'd we will resume with the xsara as its too good to scrap.

I wonder if the fault is a make and break contact inside the wires from the ecu to the engine, they where checked, but only the crank and cam sensor wires of interest at the time. When pug mot'd, the xsara will be coming back to my car port for deep investigation, and a look see with a scope and the clarke obd diagnostic, which seems quite good. I have pp2000 but that does not do citroens.

I am not giving up with this car, yet.

I think your problem might be related to the speed sensor. The vehicle speed sensor is located on the rear of the transmission housing, next to the inner end of the right-hand driveshaft. The wires can become corroded and the sensor in some cases has been lost! This will affect the data sent to the dashboard - a reason why you are getting dashes and not a speed reading.

cool thanks, was in that region when checking wires. Doing some reading up, brake/clutch pedals have 2 switches, onje normal type for the brake lights, and one a slide or proximity switch in the green sleeving, maybe these are involved with the poor engine running??

The wiring diagram you very kindly posted does not seem to tally with the car, and the citroen spec list does not seem to tally also....

must finish welding up pug so we have no wheels at the moment....

There's only one model of the 1.8 petrol and the diagram should be specific. But if there is something else you need let me know and I'll see what I have.

Thanks gmab, progress made on pug welding, off side front outrigger nearly finished and near side outrigger about half done, but some sill/jacking point area repairs needed, so sill skirt and front bu,per off next, then the wing.......the steel is real good apart from small areas where the underseal has blistered trapping water so steel corrodes quitely........

This is where you can use the Wiki:

Open this link in a separate browser window:

https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/wiki/Elect ... ring_Codes
Electrical codes.PNG
This is the main content section for most of the electrical codes. As you can see there are several sections containing codes in ascending numerical order. I have highlighted the section that contains most of the Injection circuit codes. Just use your browser back button to go back to this menu if you need to go into a different section.

So if you wanted to find out what 1131 is, that would be in section (B001 to 2215).

Clicking on the highlighted section shown above takes you to the component list - in the example below, scrolling down you can see the injector codes matching those at the bottom of the electrical diagram.
