easy bit. ScotWind is Crown Estates.
knew that bit.
Aker have changed hands since I first knew them so I will have search for their new identity/ownership

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
Aker ownership is proving difficult to pin down but it's Scandanavian board members and AkerBP connections seem to point in a known direction.
EDF and Engie seem to be partners in Ocean Winds.

Its EDP in their EDPR wing (EDP - Energias de Portugal...Portugese Government sold their 21.35% stake to the China Three Gorges Corporation) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDP_Group
ENGIE like you say (about 1/4 owned by the French State) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Engie
AKER are a Norwegian Holding Company with many subsidiaries but Aker Offshore Wind is based in Norway like you say.

Galls me that a massive yard and deep dock like Methil gets crumbs when a tiny harbour like Eyemouth gets "investment" that's likely to swamp it. The Crown Estates arm's length wind power company is just smoke and mirrors IMO. Even Burntisland has better up and running infrastructure than Eyemouth and desperately needs employment. Vested interests no doubt!NewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑08 Oct 2021, 17:25Its EDP in their EDPR wing (EDP - Energias de Portugal...Portugese Government sold their 21.35% stake to the China Three Gorges Corporation) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDP_Group

Right. It is teatime, I have shut the Shower Room window, I even shut the the whole CH system down earlier and here are the temp readings from around the ground floor.
I reckon my planning and execution are as good as I can get without knocking the house down and starting from scratch.

If that's the propellor, how big will the aeroplane be?

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
In the comments on the Electrek article on the turbine, it was speculated how big would wind turbines get and whether the size and scale of the 16 MW turbine would be the plateau. The taller the turbine, and the larger the swept area, the more efficient in generation unit cost.
Some compared it to the evolution of Aircraft size.
Regards NeilLooks like we're plateauing, maybe ending up at around 17 or 18 MW.
It's possible there will be some materials breakthrough that will allow larger ones, but I suspect it's a lot like airplanes, which kept growing and growing until they got to the 747, which was the largest for decades until a materials breakthrough (composites) allowed the A380 to be made. Which, well... "While no longer losing money on each plane sold, Airbus admits that the company will never recoup the $25 billion investment it made in the project."

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
that is the mk I hamster cage on the front. notice that it has triple runways to vastly improve the performance in light wind conditions
PS this variant is not available for turbines ordered for the Shetlands as the Hamsters cannot survive the cold (or the wind)

Sorry to spoil your fun on this one but I believe they have upgraded the hamsters to badgers for this project!! It must be true because I saw it in black and white!
