you don't have standing charges for Oil. factor that into your calcs along with any delivery charges and it might not be as bad as you thinkPeter.N. wrote: 03 Dec 2022, 12:48 I didn't realise until recently the difference in gas and electricity prices, gas around 10p per kwh and our electricity about 33p. I wish we had gas but there isn't any within about 3 miles of here. Our oil boiler only works out at about 12-13p per kwh at current fuel prices!

I will see if I can find them and spruce them up to your standards.I use this website to produce the graphs but you do have to enter all your data manually!!

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
I have done a quick calc for our energy usage for our Christmas Lights and it appears to be about 1kwh/day.
I have found all my energy lists, now all I need is the time to draw them all out freehand.
Or will I just cheat.

And mine!

Which means between us Steve we are saving average 60 kWH of energy which would give Neil 3 charges in his car!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Martin Lewis estimates that 100 leds on for 6 hours a day will cost 18p per month. I have done the maths and he is not far off the mark.Dormouse wrote: 06 Dec 2022, 13:33 I have done a quick calc for our energy usage for our Christmas Lights and it appears to be about 1kwh/day.

So, anyone got an inkling about just how many LEDs we are powering up?

I decided to use a Primary School Online tool ----- see to that then
Here are my graphs
gas first
Electricity next
There was a change of tarif feb/mar 22 where there were lots of inaccurate estimates by So Energy - since jun 22 we have been submitting monthly readings.

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
A little bit of explanation. So Energy overestimated so much that it skewed a lot of the readings.
Gas first.
About Oct 21 I fitted our own diy "Boiler Miser" controller with WiFi/internet remote control and it has saved a fair bit of gas with no change to basic temperature settings.
electricity now
About feb 22 we started to use the dryer less and bought two Airer Racks to use in the Sitootery and improved the outside clothes lines for the summer.
However, overall we have made savings and probably have got a bit of wriggle room left yet.

Loads of them, regular go to for a bit of entertainment, watched his latest couple this morning.
as well as Dave Borlace and his Just Have a Think. One of my other regulars is the Aussie "Electric Viking" probably more of an acquired taste and a bit more opinionated, but extremely productive with his content and bang up to date on EV news.
Earlier in the thread ( viewtopic.php?p=733613#p733613 ) I posted Hubnut's teardown and assessment of these little heaters in his usual detail. They are all over the net, with a series of false marketing stories and claims. Here's Robert Murray Smith's Assessment...

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
There is no such thing as a 'more efficient electric heater' different types for different purpurposes yes but for a given wattage all heaters produce the same amount of heat, you don't get something for nothing.
The same principle applies to wind turbines, the output is determined basically by the area of blades in contact with the wind, to get a reasonable output at average wind speeds in this country you need a machine with vertical blades blades at least 2m long unless you live in an exceptionally windy area. I know I've tried. Its fairly windy where we are at 500' asl but the output from a 2m rotor rotor alternator is not reliable in generating a great deal of power but still about 4x as much as a 1m rotor.
If you live somewhere where there is always a wind a 2m one can give a useful output. If you are in a permanent very high wind area you might get away with a 3' one.
