Sensible idea. Even if the bills go up again in the Spring, the continuing increase in the credit is better in his pocket than theirs.

Energy firms all declare they have the customer's interest front and centre. Patently not all the time when you hear some of the stories about some customer's experiences when they try to sort out issues. The Ombudsman doesn't do enough to make the Companies stick to the rules that are already in place. Credit Balance refunds being one of them.

I'd be happy with credit balance interest matching savings accounts!!

I've been playing around with the energy figures I posted to make it much clearer to see what is what and have come up with this:

I've added in the last 4 years for general comparison and all things being equal I will endeavour to keep this going!!

I did graphs like that a year or so ago. I will see if I can find them and spruce them up to your standards. I was trying to determine if the mods I made to our DIY boiler controller actually worked and they did. If anyone wants the wiring diagram for it, let me know and I will put it up.

I didn't realise until recently the difference in gas and electricity prices, gas around 10p per kwh and our electricity about 33p. I wish we had gas but there isn't any within about 3 miles of here. Our oil boiler only works out at about 12-13p per kwh at current fuel prices!

I keep thinking of graphing it, or at leas condensing it into monthly sums for easy comparison but there is so much accumulated data that I look at it and think "Another day perhaps".
Should have set up the spreadsheet with that in mind.

I can see that and it takes a bit of discipline on my part to do it "everyday". Sometimes it slips into manyana!myglaren wrote: 03 Dec 2022, 13:18 I keep thinking of graphing it, or at leas condensing it into monthly sums for easy comparison but there is so much accumulated data that I look at it and think "Another day perhaps".

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
I set up the spreadsheet so all I have to do is enter the two readings each month and then use the resulting total kWh as the entry data on the graph. Excel does all the work!! Once you've set it up!! I could send my speadsheet to anyone who may want to enter their own data!

Re: Energy Matters Global and Domestic
Standing charges in Scotland and other "difficult" areas to service are higher. Our electricity attracts a standing charge of 48.24p per day to "upgrade and maintain the Network in these climate challenged times" apparently.
Gas attracts 27.11p per day. Our average gas consumption just now is 34 Kwh per day which is attached to a gas hob with a wok burner (essential chez Dormouse) and a Baxi Bermuda gas fire and CH boiler which I point blank refuse to upgrade the modern versions. The average electricity use is 6.8 Kwh this year compared to nearly double that this time last year. I put that down to way less use of the tumble dryer ( and buying 2 new clothes airers) and a concerted effort to replace older inefficient electric items or cut their usage to the minimum.
Ask me at the beginning of January and I will tell how it cost us to run our deccy lights over the Festive period.

It is the rearranging/re-entering all the data points. Goes back years and over the past three months has data entered approximately six times per 24 hours. Depends if I am home or not.

I am scoffing a bowl of Rachel's soup as I type - fresh off the gas hob. Yum!
