Help! P2670 maunufacturer undocumented code
Hi there,
I have the dreades EML light on again. And the only fault code is the one mentioned above.
I did originally get codes relating to the EGR valve and glow plug. I have had these replaced but the EML light is still there
My car is a 1.6hdi xsara Picasso 2007.
Runs fine. When the EML originally came on my aircon stopped working (in August when it was very hot). Now the aircon ON Button illuminates green as normal but you cannot hear the compressor click on like before. Could this be connected??
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated and I thank you all in advance.
John Brassington.

Re: Help! P2670 maunufacturer undocumented code
Can you post up your VIN here as there are several 1.6 engines and I need the correct specs to find this code as it is not coming up for the Xsara Piccasso.

Re: Help! P2670 maunufacturer undocumented code
Yes, no problem. You have the XSARA PICASSO FAMILY SALOON 1.6 HDi 92 (DV6ATED4) Manual gearbox 5 with DV6ATED4.
Ok, so no real progress as I am not getting anything for that code.
However on searching for that code (quite obscure) there are just references to low voltage on a variety of sensors including inlet air pressure sensor, Rail pressure sensor, Turbocharger position copy sensor, Air conditioning pressure - all of these state supply voltage too low.
So my first instinct would be to check the battery - how old is it? - is it charging? So checking the battery condition is a first step.
Next I would check that your battery terminals are all cleaned up, not corroded and are making good contact.
Next the earthing points - these can suffer from rust over the years and make poor contact. There are a lot of them on the car - so I would start looking at these.
Unfortunately as this is not a designated code for this vehicle I can't be more specific, but from the descriptions everything is saying there is a low voltage supply to everything. The A/C compressor is another example - if that is not kicking in then there could be a lack of power as that is a drain on the system.
So battery is my number one suspect area, whether through a poor battery or a bad earth somewhere.

Re: Help! P2670 maunufacturer undocumented code
All of the sensors mentioned by Marc will be fed by 5V from the Engine ECU, so low voltage could be caused by a fault on one of those sensors, a wiring fault or a faulty ECU.
You could try measuring the voltages at on of the sensors to check the 5V level. I seem to recall that someone a year or two back had a problem with the 5V regulator in the ECU.
The A/C compressor is likely a downstream symptom, as the engine ECU removes unnecessary load on the engine.

The battery is fine, although the original battery. The terminals are clean and greased, and as far as im aware, charging correctly.
Im guessing the battery is coming upto q2 years old.
Any help locating these sensors would be massively appreciated, so that i could clean the connectors with contact cleaner and replace if necessary and also to check the wiring to these along the way.
Car earth points.. where are these located..?
I know the one on that bolts to the gearbox, but other than this im unsure.
Like previously stated, I really appreciate this

Re: Help! P2670 maunufacturer undocumented code
I’ll get you the earth locations shortly, but don’t be complacent about the battery. If you meant to type 12 years, that’s already over twice the recommended life!
Battery performance degrades with age and although it may start fine, that does not mean it can supply the correct power requirements needed.
Your sensors won’t be the problem, the fault is that any or all of them (and there were more that I didn't quote) aren't getting a proper supply voltage. But do remember that this fault code is not coming up for this engine, it is only the data I have for the fault in general, but I will get the engine ECU diagram up for you at least with the earths.

Here are the earthing locations for your specific model:
Here is the Engine ECU (1320 on the diagram) that will contain the connections to the other systems. Earths on my previous diagram will show the physical locations to those referred to on this diagram:
Other components should be listed on our Wiki here:

Re: Help! P2670 maunufacturer undocumented code
I'd suspect the 5v reference circuit too, based on the fault code. It should read a steady 5v loaded with ignition on.
Re: Help! P2670 maunufacturer undocumented code
No direct experience of this, but based on previous replies and some intuition, I'm wondering could something be loading down the 5V line?
Unfortunately, this does nothing to narrow the field of search, as that could be a chafed wire, almost anywhere, but could potentially be a short circuited sensor.
It will throw up a lot of codes, but you could try open circuiting each in turn, and see if the unspecified code can be erased.
Pretty time consuming, so if you're paying for someone to do it, probably not practical

Thanks for the reply guys.
On the earthing points diagram, whst is meant by "blank"
I intend to investigate this fully when i have more time, and in the summer when its nice and warm.
Your help has been invaluable and i thank you ALL for your assistance..
Much love.Peace out and karma

I have written that in so you don't think I missed something out - where I have written 'Blank', that means they are one of several earths in the immediate category preceding it.
For example MC31, 32, 33 & MC36 are all 'Front Left Earths - Dashboard'. I will edit the post so they show a ditto instead, sorry for the confusion

HI Mark,
Its been a while since I originally posted, but today was really nice so I thought I'd have a look at my battery termimals as giving my Xpic its first proper clean inside and out since the winter.
A couple of weeks ago I purchased a cheap battery tester from my local Aldi. The Battery may be past its best as the results in the photos show, so in the next couple of weeks, im looking at replacing. Which is the correct one for my car? Its a 2007 1.6hdi desire vaiant. Im looking to buy from eurocarparts as they seem very reasonable,
