Following up POTD about Whites in Effingham, the firm was established in 1964, and this image from the 1960's from one of its outlets, more than qualifies as an Interesting garage for the gallery.

Nice "Whitewashed" garage against the blue sky. Few more like the Blue MG would have improved the picture, our more modern cars are so dull in appearance.

Sorry to hijack your thread Jim but I couldn't find the 'garages' thread' This was the garage I used to buy my cars from in the '50s. It was on Bromley Common, long since gone I'm afraid. Frank Jarret was the proprietor (by the A40) The smaller chap at the other end was Frank Rabbeth, he was the mechanic/ panel beater/ sprayer and he was brilliant, cost me £25.00 for a complete respray in those days.

The chap in the middle was Les Holder, he used to repair batteries in the loft of Franks workshop, eventually went on to have his own battery and plate making firm. Just a bit of history I thought you might be interested in.
