Take it back to garage as it may be something they have done they should sort it out as the problem wasn’t there before hand. Seen cambelt tensioner been put on wrong before.

Yesterday I drove the car to work and the noise became a lot worse and my nerves were shot. There was a distinctive rattling noise under acceleration and I was getting a lot of funny looks from passers by whenever I came to a stop. When I finally got to work and eventually pried my hands from the steering wheel and got out of the car I realized just the extent of how bad the noise had become (It was horrendous) I opened the bonnet and took a look at the suspected area around the pulleys and noticed the 2 week old crank pulley had a little bit of play and by a little I mean loads. It looked like a buckled bicycle wheel and hey presto there was my issue. =D>

The car was towed back to the garage where the original work had been done and I must say it looked at home on the back of a recovery truck

They confirmed that the crank pulley had broken up and replaced it with the original one that was fault free and the car came back home tonight.

Although the garage confirmed the pulley had broken up and failed I'm a little skeptical as to how they came to that conclusion. I'll post some pics of the "broken" pulley and let you guys be the decider.

Many thanks to everyone with their input it's greatly appreciated

I actually bought the pulley from GSF along with other parts on a black Friday deal. I thought I was doing good by changing the pulley while other work like the cam belt was be done. Turns out I did more bad than good

I'll get my refund from GSF over the weekend

I will let the OP post the part number from GSF but i would just like to add some info.
First off, Chris you deserve a   as you got it spot on and i was daft enough to rule out a new part as being at fault.
Secondly they say good garages are hard to find, i have used this garage through a third party for a number of years now and as i recommended them to my son i thought "Oh what have they done ", for a few minutes.
But true to form they were informed of the issues at 3:30pm monday afternoon, the car was picked up and delivered to them @ 4:45 pm. They had given back the original pulley after they had done the previous work saying it was perfectly serviceable. We dropped the original pulley off @ 7pm monday night, we got a phone call @ 11:30 am tuesday morning (today) to say the car was ready to be picked up and that the cost was £0 and take the pulley back to GSF and get your money back :-D .
I will be speaking to them tomorrow to see if it is okay with them if i add them to the forum list of good garages :)

The part no. (From GSF) is 023FO0160. The part/manufacturer no. on the pulley it's self is BGA B1310-96. No manufacturer name on either the pulley or GSF unfortunately. It's worrying to know that the part I bought can fail so quickly and potentially cause terminal damage. I'm lucky that no damage was done

Just a quick update on this one, car has since been spot on, i have had the pleasure of driving on a couple of occasions after the refitting of the dud pulley and it just makes me want another one.
GSF gave a refund without any hassle, yes thats what they should do but some places will not so fair play to them in this instance.

But nothing for your inconvenience or extra costs incurred? If they did that I would be impressed.
