Re: Lights! (Interesting and Awful please)
It was putting on a show infront of me so I clicked the shutter. Also saw those odd union jack Mini rears in action where the indicator lights up the appropriate horizontal "spoke". Bit too obvious taking a photo so that incident didnt make it to an image for the thread.

Those lights seem to be a bit of an afterthought... 5 out of ten... Could have done much better...

Re: Lights! (Interesting and Awful please)
I loved the Consul Classic as a lad. Our neighbour opposite was one of only three houses in the street who owned a car and his was a superb Consul Classic in a beautiful 2 tone livery of salmon pink over grey. I used to go over on a Sunday morning and help him wash it which was as close as I could get to any car in those days. I loved the rear wings and lights which resembled those on my favourite american car, the Chevrolet Impala!!

Re: Lights! (Interesting and Awful please)
That's a Classic Capri, one of my customers bought one new and asked me to fit a radio, he wanted the aerial fitted in the panel behind the rear screen.
When I drilled the hole for it, I was quite surprised to find it had a quarter inch thick lead filler there.

Re: Lights! (Interesting and Awful please)
I don't think that is the Capri Gibbo. IIRC the Capri version was more of a coupe wirh a sloping back window whereas this is the Consul Classic with the inset raked rear window like the 105e Anglia. ???Gibbo2286 wrote: 19 Nov 2022, 10:43 That's a Classic Capri, one of my customers bought one new and asked me to fit a radio, he wanted the aerial fitted in the panel behind the rear screen.

Ford Consul Classic only reached £5,600 in the Auction against an estimate of £8000-£9,000, not sold.

You're right of course Mick, the one I did was a 1961 model much earlier than the one in the picture.mickthemaverick wrote: 19 Nov 2022, 13:53I don't think that is the Capri Gibbo.
