Yes, another scam as detailed here, but it's not a new one - been around for at least a year.

Although a little concerning to see your personal name shown Eric.... That could be a significant 'hook' for some less suspicious people. No doubt they will be asking for further account details or information to 'pay the prize' or similar and scam you.

I ordered a few bits from GSF last week and hot on the heels of DPD advising me of delivery arrangements I received a scam text message from someone pretending to be DPD requesting an additional fee to deliver... Nothing new there but the speed at which it arrived was astounding - mere minutes after the genuine message.

They, whoever they are, must have an inside track to pending deliveries surely?

Heres one, read classified, find a car ,contact seller, arrange to go look , seller then rings back , he wont be in but his mate will to deal with you, you arrive ,the car has a blowing head gasket the mate then turns out to be the owner of the car , he swears he don't know anything about mechanics but admits to pouring 5 bottles of liquid glass into the system because it was cheaper to do so ??? The mate who was meant to be dealing with you then admits he is the owner and didn't want any come backs for selling a s**t car ! This is an experience i went through 6 years ago & i wasn't to best pleased. At least i knew what i was looking at and what the smell was , just lost my diesel money thank god nothing else. Oh i did kick off as i did put a 150 quid holding deposit to see the thing but soon got that back

Another scam my sisters x father in law.....

100 motorbikes from spain all in a container ready to be shipped to the winning bidder , you get all the official looking papers you pay your money , then nothing the buyer vanishes and your 40 grand out of pocket ! This was happening on ebay

And there, in a nutshell, is why I only exchange cars with friends these days...

Just far too risky...

You have friends?

I got this scam text during the night which I instantly recognised as a scam, but interestingly I posted a parcel yesterday with a slightly dubious postage rate based on my weighing and measuring the item before I had packaged it. I realised too late that I may have underpaid but decided to wait and see!! Receiving this particular scam text did make me realise how it can work if they happen to send it to the right person at the right time!! My anti-virus software did throw up a malware alert for the website so it's never going to be a problem if you run decent protective software!! :-D

Happens every time I send one Mick... The spammer must have some inside knowledge of those sending parcels...

I sold another item on ebay, printed the label yesterday but I haven't taken it to the PO yet. I got the same text this morning so the scammer must have access to ebay's label printing service. I will report it to them!
They have come from different mobile numbers.

Two things to immediately mark it down as a scam Mick...

No major company would send from an ordinary mobile number and in the UK we don't generally use the term 'shipping' when speaking of postage costs...

If I was a scammer I could be so much more convincing...
