There’s one here though OEM genuine £120

Thanks Marc, I think I’d rather buy the genuine kit from the main stealer.

But still have the question about the timing tools, do I really need it or can I just use drill bits instead? Is the flywheel locking pin behind the starter motor?

I saw some pdf workshop manuals on eBay for sale around £11 are they worth the money?

Have done before without special tools. Just need drill bit to time camshaft remove crank pulley and covers put camshaft in time use tipex to mark pulleys and belt. I used impact gun to remove crank pully it’s on a key way.

Do I need to lock the flywheel?

Should I get workshop manuals on eBay as PDF?

If you buy the gates kit will come with instructions . I have done it without locking flywheel just need to make sure you have marked pulley and belt. If not confident take it to garage normally takes three and a half hours labour to do belt and water pump .

It’s something i am confident i would do and I would rather do myself.

I’ve read before that the genuine kit is made by Gates, does that mean if I buy it from the dealer, I would get tte instructions that is usually supplied by Gates?

When I was looking into doing it on my C5 I found a nice simple video that went over the main bits and how to set the tensioner:

I’ve been a little swamped today, but I am putting the official procedures together for you, if you can be a little patient. I’ll post them here and you can decide what you do and don’t need once you have looked at the official procedures.

@Pete, thank for the kit but Marc said that Part No don’t always match the engine type (at least that’s what I understood) as I can’t enter the reg to verify the part, I was hesitant in case the kit provided won’t fit.

@Marc, thanks a lot, you have already provided invaluable info (the workshop, would be def the icing on the cake) no rush as I am in the investigation phase, planning to do the job this weekend.

I'll have the info shortly - but by morning for sure if not later.

But as for the parts - I always quote official parts for the very reason that people then know what the original [art numbers are for their specific car as per the VIN - which tells everything it has when it left the factory. Vehicle registration numbers and third party databases are notoriously flawed and I won't use them without a proper part number. I've seen too many end up being wrong, incorrect or dead on arrival.

Incidentally, that part that I linked to is a genuine Citroen one on ebay - I can tell from the photos - it is in original packing with the correct part numbers on each box - and even with the postage totalling £131 - it is still £80 cheaper than the main dealer.
