Have managed to raise suspension with scanner. But still won’t operate from vehicles own switch .

Re: C5 suspension fault
Ok, so a C5 MK I Estate 2.0 HDi 110 (DW10ATED) Manual gearbox 5. So this doesn't have the H3+ system, so that is less to go wrong. I think this is going to be extremely difficult to nail without some codes.
But honestly, if the pump is running but no height movement is occurring, then I can only suggest that the electrovalves are not moving and permitting any fluid through. As you have now depressurised the system, it would appear that the anti sink valves have opened allowing the fluid back into the tank, but because of the remaining issue, you can't get any fluid travelling back.
So the codes are really needed to progress.

The BHI, a monoblock which cannot be taken apart, is composed of the following components:
- An electric motor to drive the hydraulic pump
- A hydraulic pump with 5 axial pistons
- An anti-pulse accumulator, flow regulator
- 4 electrovalves : 2 per axle, 1 for inlet (raising the vehicle), 1 for outlet (lowering the vehicle)
- An electronic suspension ECU
- 2 anti-sink valves
- 6 hydraulic fluid filters : upstream and downstream of the electrovalves
- 1 overpressure valve

5 | Overpressure Valve |
6 | Hydraulic Pump Air Intake Aperture |

I’m under the impression bhi unit is at fault . If I was to aquaire second hand would it need coding?.

Re: C5 suspension fault
Most people when replacing the pumps retain their suspension ECU part and just replace the motor to ensure that they don't have to code it. Failing that you will need to code the unit and programme the relevant functions in the suspension ECU and the BSI and you will need Lexia to do that.
Your specific pump part number is: 527743 according to your VIN.

Re: C5 suspension fault
So what you are saying is that the electrovalves are not opening in the hydraulic block allowing the pressure from the pump to raise the car, due to either a mechanical fault with the valves themselves or an electrical fault with the valve coil?
Could it not be possible that the raise electrovalves are not being actuated for the same reason that the pump unit is not being trigered i.e. the BHI has deemed a serious fault and refuses to operate until the problem has been fixed?

Re: C5 suspension fault
That's why we need the codes Elis - it will be pure guesswork without these as there are too many variables. From my understanding, he can activate the pump when wired directly, but it is not raising, but when connected back up the pump only operates for a few seconds - and still won't raise.
@Simple: I still think it would be worth diagnosing first to determine the original fault - I would also suggest though, that if you are intent on replacing it that you do make a note of the configuration settings first using a Lexia (if you are considering getting one). That way you will know what the settings originally are if you do end up changing the pump - or if you still have a problem and may still need to check the parameters.

Re: C5 suspension fault
2008 Citroen C5 X7 2.0 HDi Exclusive suspension problems.
My issue started off with a serious leak from the suspension pump motor assembly whilst the engine is running.
Having read the information on this forum, I decided to just replace just the pump motor and BSI assembly to avoid needing a Lexia to reprogram the ECU as I don’t have one.
However, I since refitting the second hand pump motor assembly the motor starts up when the door opens, then continues to operate when the engine is started and stops after the car is locked up. The dash shows no faults but the car is stuck at its lowest level and does not rise. When pressing the console switch the display shows the level increase but it does not actually physically change.
I have performed the recommended reset but this has no effect. The unit was supplied as a good correct suspension pump motor assembly for my model and year (2008 Citroen C5 X7 2.0 HDi Exclusive) with a 3 month warranty. The suspension leak seems to be resolved.
Any advice is welcome
Phil

Re: C5 suspension fault
Hi, and to the forum.
As this is an X7 I am not certain if I can help (although somebody will be able to offer better advise than I). However, it is possible the pump may need to be primed (it does on the Mk1 C5), and (if this is the case) it may not be difficult to do this. On the Mk1 C5 all I would need to do is to take the normal cap (for the LDS reservoir) off, fit one I have made (with a tyre valve fitted), a quick couple of pumps with a cycle pump, and then run the suspension. It only takes about 0.5BAR of pressure to get the pump primed.
However, saying this, I still cannot say if this would help you, as you have the later X7 C5. Good luck with her, and I KNOW you will be given good advise.

Hi Phil
Are you sure the model was correct for your vehicle? Post up your VIN here and I will check part numbers. I think you meant to say you replaced the BHI not the BSI. The BHI is the Integrated Hydraulic Interface. These are specific to each model and are programmed for the specific vehicle. Most will keep their own BHI and just replace the pump, that is the only way you won't have to code it. If you have got another complete unit then if it is not exactly right you will have issues as it will not be configured to the vehicle.

Re: C5 suspension fault
The pumps are generally the same - it is the ECU (the square unit that sits on top) that have to be configured according to Engine Type, Saloon, Tourer, Gearbox Fitted, Whether Crossback or not, etc., as this affects the suspension programming and operation.

Re: C5 suspension fault
Hi Phil
So we know you have the identical BHI and pump unit as a replacement (confirmed by PM).
So what you need to do now is ensure the system is properly bled.
The procedure is in my post here:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=59281&hilit=10+time ... 15#p573444
Sometimes it can take a while to rise after the fluid has been changed (or in this case the pump replaced - which will have needed a depressurisation and fluid top up).
You may need to apply a bit of air pressure in the top of the tank to get it going - but try the procedure first.
