No intention on hijacking the thread but this diagram shows clearly that the Air Doser is indeed part of the EGR system (Components 1 and 21)

Is this likely to be any different between the Siemens ECU as fitted to this car and the Delphi ECU that other DW10B engines have?

Great, thanks for digging that out Marc.

That's all the confirmation I need that the intake throttle is part of the EGR system.
