Just a curveball suggestion, has anyone thought about using some of these nano-quartz superhydrophobic coatings to protect the exposed metal and repel moisture?

I thought about using them but they seem to need recoating annually so In the environment the shaft lives in I would say that is significantly reduced.

Good point Darren, but sticking with the idea of super-hydrophobia, what about a super-hydrophobic waxoyl type of product - Buzzweld WAR - https://www.buzzweld.co.uk/war-underbod ... erwax.html

Hi all, I know bobbins put a link up for the shaft seals but I just can't find it. Does anyone have it handy.

A bit more expensive when posting across to Ireland. €15 delivered feck Brexit it added customs charges to everything. I need to get a suitable sleeve now I am thinking on getting some 21 mm ID stainless pipe and chem welding it to the shaft as well as the Speedi sleeve for the lower section before covering with a steering gaiter after modding the lump of course and leave the top of the shaft exposed for universal joint. I have a box of green O rings I can use on the HP pipes.do the gaiters have a pipe going into them?

Just for clarity, what's your plan with the stainless pipe? If just to keep the water away then I'd go for paint - don't forget the shaft has to pass through the lip seal , so you can't increase its diameter in any meaningful amount as wouldn't pass through. Speedi sleeve is stainless and very thin, so within the range of adjustment of the lip seal.

Ah that's a pain on the Brexit tax front. If can find a local engineering supply place, the lip seals are not exotic, might be able to buy locally instead?

Thanks for that Matt I wasn't thinking of the lip seal so paint it is. Have the seals bought just need the sleeve and maybe one of those nano paints Jay suggested.

£10.53 + Vat, + £3.75+vat P&P costs.
Gone up to £11.06+VAT (p+p still £3.75+VAT) for the speedi sleeve

I ended up getting the sleeve from a company here in Ireland. I got gouged again €42 delivered. There's some serious gouging going on here at the moment.

That link I found seems very cheap £17.74 delivered, there's lots of them in the £22 to £29 range for the same thing but can see that is still a chunk cheaper than what you've been able to find. Frustrating!
