It's not the rust on the threads on the plugs that causes the problem - it's carbon build up further down the plug. This grabs the end of the plug, and as you unwind the top you basically just twist the plug in half. I believe garages have very low torque impact drivers to help get them out - I'm sure Lighty posted a link to one he had bought.

that sounds good to me. think i will leave it until absolutely necessary or i am working in the area for some other reason and its going to be easy to do it then!
