I have a personal dislike of Alfa's habit of hanging the front number plate on the side rather than central. The same thing bugs me about the Land Rover Discos and their rear plates. I think it upsets my desire for symmetry and balance in car design! As for the Nissan Cube don't start me off! :-D

That Alfa looks very purposeful :) I agree on the number plate Mick. In its home territory, front plates are very small and insignificant so will fit fairly nicely in the spot Alfa designed for them. I still, like you, don't like them off-centre...

Colour suits it...

Well without prompting and from some time ago I shutter clicked a future CitroJim Mobile as a contender...
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 22 Dec 2019, 13:09 Well I took a picture or 2 of a modern car this morning.

My thought process.......thats a nice colour, it's a Citroen, looks like a nice sort of size, not too big, not too small, its got a decent tail gate, probably plenty of space for the dog, bit of protective plastic down and I bet those back seats fold down to get a few bags of sand and cement bricks and roofing felt in. Its got roof bars too :-D

So what was it?

I also awarded a Honda Civic the best looking modern car in ASDA car park in 2018!

..and the title "Asda Carpark Modern Car of the Day" goes to....

Yes, it's not a bad looker at all. It's easy enough on my eye and I like that it's a bit different to the usual stuff... It stands out from the crowd :)

It works too on a practical level with its huge tailgate and cavernous cargo area :) All the benefits of a van without actually being one.

The new Pug e208 is not too hard on the eye. I spent time looking at one in a lovely metallic blue whist purchasing Polly...

Time to revive this, lets look for some positive contributions of things you do like. Previous pages have already mopped up enough of the usual don't like this, don't like that, all modern cars are awful comments and the thread was in severe hibernation, heading for permanent residence in the dusty archives.

Since its heyday of participation, loads of new models have been released. Even slowcoach Stellantis has been active.

Not all modern cars are of the brick with a half-brick on top of it variety, and even amongst those there will be some that appeal, and be welcomed into the thread. The old Range Rover was much loved, and pretty much fitted the brick design analogy!

Its all a matter of opinion of course but I do like Renault's latest offerings.

Renault have come up with a relatively small hatchback, and called it the Renault 5 and they haven't been shy about the colours! Gets the thumbs up for me. Very much a car park stander-outer-rer.

Yes, that new R5 almost looks good, especially in those vibrant colours. Certainly more attractive than the usual fare on offer.

Shame its windows are so tiny. I'll bet it's really pokey inside and very claustrophobic - just as the Clio hybrid Robyn had before she wet all SUV with her Renault Cap It All or whatever it's called...

I do like a car that feels all bright, airy and greenhouse-like ;)

Well, it scores highly on the greenhouse front Mick but somewhat falls on its face in the looks department...

A slight saving grace is the bright red paintwork :)

It's certainly strikingly different!

In some circles the new Renault 4, launched at the Paris Motor show last week has been eagerly anticipated.
Its a bit more of a stretch than the Renault 5, with hints of an homage, but in reality a very different beast from the original. I like it, but maybe in the alright-ish looking category but interesting non the less.

I can see the R4 styling cues if I look hard enough and turn my imagination up to 11.

Personally, I think my C3 Picasso has more of a likeness to the original R4 than the new R4... It's certainly as practical and versatile. I had two R4s in the 70s and loved them so I may be just a little biased. I also had an R5 although I never loved that one as much as the 4.

I wonder if the new R4 will happily carry two automatic washing machines in the back with room to spare? My old R4 did - a pair of bow-fronted Hoover 'Keymatic' machines. I made one good one from the two :)

If it can pass that test I'll be a little more warm toward it. I have no doubt my C3 Picasso would ;)

Its a fair bet that very few (if any) of the viewers of the thread will be able to name this make and model.
It will paddle around in the worldwide market where for the targeted potential buyers price is the least of their concerns. For a time it will most likely gain the irrelevant fastest 4 door sedan in production crown with a whizz round the Nürburgring , or a whizz down a drag strip. It is luxurious and overflowing with tech.

A clue to the maker...not Apple, not Google, not Huawei but not a bad effort at all from a company, better known for its smartphones and its home appliances in its own land, but in the "never heard of them category" in USA/Europe and the UK. That said the most quoted quote about the car is from Ford's CEO Jim Farley who had one imported and commented "I have been driving one for six months now and I don't want to give it up".

The curious will seek and find out more, but all can look at the picture. Nothing too offensive about the car in my eyes. It's a pretty aerodynamic 4 door sedan of reasonably pleasing profile, nice bright colour.
