Thats great Chris did you go up or down or both! Silly question really if its a mountain pass you would have had to go up one side and down the other!

Re: I-spy an Ugly SUV
We had driven from UK to Lake Orta and Lake Garda (couple of weeks' honeymoon
), and for the route back I had opted to include the Stelvio Pass, after insistent recommendations from a P6 friend.
You're right about the pass. Most alpine passes follow the line of valleys, but not so Stelvio, which snakes relentlessly upward from Italy, and over a high ridge at the summit. Temperature dropped from 24 to 4°C as we climbed, with some sheer drops on the passenger side! The road surface was excellent, but some of the lower, wooded, stretches were single track, and not without a good few cyclists.
It remains one of the longest and steepest mountain passes in Europe, and is still used for vehicle testing.

While in the 1950's part of the testing for the Vauxhall Velox and Wyvern involved driving 50 times up and down Porlock Hill, they also took them to "The Continent" up to the Alpine Passes to put them through their paces.
Dug out an excellent little film which I enjoyed. Loads of that clipped English pronunciation from the narrator with a few lovely phrases. Its lost within the On TV thread many pages back but well worth a watch

Re: I-spy an Ugly SUV
I saw a “sub compact crossover SUV” today if wiki is accurate in its description. It was black with two yellow eyes two yellow ears and two yellow flashes at the side of its mouth. Spoke with a Mackem accent....
What was it?

Steve...Just a plain, this side of the pond, Nissan Juke ex Sunderland.
May be interesting/worrying that the Juke is now the Kicks over in USA, and the factories producing it are in Brazil,Mexico, China, Taiwan.
It was like this....I'll give them a couple of points for trying

Horrible, they just get worse and worse.
Saying that, there is a DS4? that shows up over the road that is no better.
I saw a photo of a Juke a few days ago with "Daisy" over the "Juke".

From the archives to amuse a new audience. The Simpsons hit the SUV nail on the Head.

Nice comment in this one! "Don't worry about the SUV's there's a gentle curve up ahead!"

Re: I-spy an Ugly SUV
So how is Ex-Jaguar Land Rover Executive Mark Stanton occupying his time these days?
Well as Chief Technical Officer of Chinese startup Human Horizons working on the "HiPhi 1" due to launch in 2021
It brings back the suicide door, and introduces the suicide roof............and poses the question
Do SUV's look better from the air

Best down a disused mine.
Just been shopping and there was an immaculate dark blue 53-reg Rover 75 there that put the rest of the tat in the car park to shame.

Re: I-spy an Ugly SUV
just 'discovered' the Simpsons SUV clip for myself, very good! Also faintly amusing, in a 'has the world gone completely nuts' kind of way, was the 'modernist' take on spelling in the Title, re "Passed".
In a similar vein, though its definitely not an SUV, I recently watched a Recorded programme regarding the nine new and very expensive Jaguar D Types. Every minute detail was meticulously recreated for an immaculate result...

Re: I-spy an Ugly SUV
I was in Lidl this morning. Not very busy but the usual array of Seriously Ugly Vehicles.
A 53 reg dark blur Rover 75 (immaculate too) put the lot of them to shame. Pleased that I was at the far end of the car park too.
