My late father in law used to head of some anonymous government department, he was tasked with improving message flow between a couple of neighbouring buildings. He commissioned reports on all the various available methods and the best option by far was the pneumatic tube system. I believe it was duly installed and worked efficiently and without issue.
Berlin also had a very large version called, iirc, the rohrpost.

I remember the system in Foster Bros. Cables from each counter to a cash office in the corner, the money in a pot then catapulted along the cable.

My daughter worked there. She bought a white BMW 518 off me but being just five feet tall she could hardly be seen behind the wheel, one day sorting through and reading the arriving signals she got one saying "Observations are required for a driverless BMW passing along the Golden Valley by-pass."NewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑20 Jan 2021, 11:10 Little bit of an aside to the "tube" systems.

A bit vague but I think that there was a shop in Scarborough that had a similar system.
A department store, there was a monkey in a cage on one of the upper floors that do what monkeys often do to the delight and horror of many who saw it.
Boyes, I think.

I seem to remember one of those in the Coop in Bromley, the one in Petts Wood was one of those pingy wire things.

BROMLEY. Co-op, Burnt Ash Parade. "There was an overhead system in the Co-op on the Burnt Ash Lane Parade opposite St Andrew's Church in the 50s. Totally fascinated me as a child." Philip Clayton in posting to Friends Reunited, 28/7/12
BROMLEY. Co-op, Chatterton Road. Lamson? wire system. Disappeared in 1950s. John Hopton
BROMLEY. Co-op, Widmore Road. "Who remembers the money put into the capsules that then swished across the shop on a wire to the cashier, who sent the change back the same way?" Pauline Lipton in posting to Friends Reunited, 18/7/12
BROMLEY. David Greggs. "I remember the overhead wires where the assistants put your money in a little pot/capsule and then pulled a string with a wooden handle on it and the change came back . They had them in David Greggs as well at the one at Bromley south. I used to love to watch them shoot along the wires when I was a whipper snapper." Tony Miles in posting to Friends Reunited, 19/7/12

Apologies for the Lamson overdose
And a different Lamson system - this one was used to convey messages between two floors. This is the top station, the message basket can be seen just disappearing out of shot at the bottom. The handle attached to the ropework was raised or lowered and that sped the basket on its way between floors.

It was the one in Widmore Road I was thinking of Bobbins, obviously got that wrong. There was a builders merchants in Orpington that had one but I'm sure someone in Bromley did.

Makes perfect sense as they are totally secure... Tamper with them with intent to steal and they just cease workingNewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑20 Jan 2021, 11:10 Little bit of an aside to the "tube" systems.

Absolutely none needed! I'm loving this particular stroll down memory lane
