Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
I think I have a couple that were passed down like family heirlooms. I think the last time I used one was about 1988

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
I wanna tell you a story. When I was a kid I used to mess about building amplifiers and other things, I desperately wanted a drill for aluminium chassis - or at least the one chassis I built everything on. A shop in Bromley had one not unlike yours for about 5/- or maybe it was 4/9d. I saved up my pocket money for weeks, had enough, went down to get my drill, when I got there it had gone up only a bob or two but I couldn't then afford it. I told the shopkeeper my sad story and he let me have it for the old price. . People don't seem to be like that now.

I have my dad's hand drill like that one.
He also had a Yankee screwdriver that he used a lot but disappeared along with most of his other tools.
This was his 'American Screwdriver'

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
I've still got the ratchet screwdriver and use it occasionally.
I've also got a LOT of tools (and car parts) that I need to get rid of. Time to have a clear out.
When I snuff it will all end up in a skip.
sold a few bits on ebay recently but Whitworth and BSF tools are unsaleable for the most part.

A day out I had yesterday reminded me of this. Did anybody else get involved in the BBC's Domesday Project:

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
I had one for a few months in the summer which was great fun. I went through 6 3 wheelers in all, from the Messerschmidt KR200 to a Reliant MK6, on through a Reliant 3/30 Supervan II and a Supervan III, the Bond Bug and finishing with a Reliant Rialto GLS Estate which was the best of the crop!!

A neighbour had a Messerschmitt and a workmate a different bubble car that I got a lift in most mornings.

Re: Remember these.? All our yesterdays
you got in a bubble car.... Did you ever drive into a space and realise you couldn't open the door? It's a shame people want to drive buses everywhere, those little cars are perfect for everyday commuting.

especially the spitfire racing you, how history repeats itself. How was the tree after the bark was ripped off? Hope you hugged it better.
