I will have a look at the injectors and connections as suggested and check all the wiring to sensors but the sensors were checked on the diagnostics so they should be ok. When I explained to the mechanics who have all been very helpful they both suggested the pumping of the clutch could just be coincidental as it has only happened twice and it was the last time I tried the clutch so it could be coincidental and just a blip but with electrics these days it is hard to tell the codes were erased so new codes will come up with any problems. I well get the cam belt changed with water pump as it is due in time wise, it might sort the problem but if not I know I do not need to worry about the cam or water pump for many years.

I tend to agree that if the cambelt or timing were the issue, you'd have a lot worse running problems than just noisy idling.

I agree, the timing be!t is due ish anyway so will change it. The scan found no other faults and it can't be replicated so will be a case of next time it happens to have codes read again to see if it brings any faults up. Bit of a waiting game. Will inform if anything found.

I would suggest that you get a second opinion from another mechanic. Misdiagnosis is quite common.

Just an update, timing belt was due in about 10 months so had the timing belt changed with the camshaft sensor approx 8 months ago and touch wood have not had the trouble back. They took the crankshaft sensor off to replace but the new one wouldn't fit so cleaned the old one and put it back on. I would be inclined to say the problem was one of the sensors rather than the timing.
