In the time you have been playing Wordle mick, you have had 2 bullseye's, our team had 1 with the word SAUTE some time ago.

My thinking of the incredibly long odds of a randomly generated 5 letter word, and an individual competitor selecting the same 5 letter word on guess 1, would make the small sample of our households hitting the bullseye 3 times unlikely.

To encourage playing I am guessing that heardle uses a selection algorithm from its now vast database of players, and the words they select, to encourage the odd bullseye, and more generally manipulate the degree of difficulty to keep people interested, and to throw out random rewards. So maybe the bullseyes are the commonly used start words across all the users in all the world.

Many heardle players will start with the same word all the time. I used to use AUDIO seeing as it used 4 Vowels and follow that up with STERN getting the other vowel out the way and some commonly used consonants.

On a similar methodical note I used to start with ADIEU, 4 vowels, followed by STORY covering the 5th vowel and Y as well as three of the most common consonants. That routine has brought me many scores of 3 and slightly more 4s but nowadays I vary the start because it was getting too mechanical!! :-D

I just remembered you can display your record on Wordle and mine confirms I have actually had 3 bullseyes in 131 attempts. Numbers which may well bear out your theory Neil!!
