Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Right Mick No lookies up and I didn't see the show.
Allow me a few seconds of working out.
Motorcycles came before cars, so my first inclination is the Isle of Man TT, of the Car things Europe had an early lead over America so first to go is the Indy 500. Monaco Grand Prix bit too far down south from the Hub of early car manufacturing so I woiuld say of the car races that Le Mans was the oldest of the 3.
So its a toss up between Le Mans and The Isle of Man for the final answer. Did the isle of man have "tourists in the late 1890's" to compete in the "tourist trophy" races, on reflection I'm going for Le Mans.
Final Answer Le Mans
Regards Neil

Amazing, your line of reasoning was almost identical to mine, your elimination of the options was in the same order as mine and your conclusion was the same as mine. Unfortunately we were both wrong, tripping at the final hurdle!!

I've just posted an amusing theme tune quiz on the All Our Yesterdays thread: viewtopic.php?&t=59300&p=644138#p644138
which you may like to have a shot at. It takes about 15 minutes

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Neil's School Stories thread got me thinking about my schooldays and while not worthy of a story on that thread a good question for this one:
On June 21st 1961 I was in the school playground in Watford watching a disaster unfold in front of my eyes, so the question is What was the disaster and which school was I at?

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
You will not be surprised Mick, I don't know that off the top of my head. Possibly a plane related incident. I'll not look it up just yet.....maybe just a few questions to narrow it down.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑26 May 2020, 20:00Neil's School Stories thread got me thinking about my schooldays and while not worthy of a story on that thread a good question for this one:

Was is a disaster that would have had national news and press coverage?

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
So the other angle I was considering may not seem worthwhile pursuing based on that answer Mick, I wondered if it may have been the filming of a "disaster" with the film studios in the reasonably nearby area?mickthemaverick wrote: ↑26 May 2020, 20:12I believe so, but it can definitely be found on the web somewhere![]()

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz

Did you have a packet of woodbines and a box of Swan Vestas in your pocket Mick and you were scared the teacher found out you had left a smouldering cigarette butt in the waste paper basket?
Er...Was it the School that was on Fire
