The only one I'm sure of is number 7 Cockermouth.

In the late 70's they supplied the Duke of Wellington in High Bridge Newcastle with hand pulled Mild and Bitter.

A correct answer 5 points on the board! :)

mickthemaverick wrote: 24 Dec 2021, 11:43 Following Neil's request for something to do I thought I'd put together a little quiz following the brewing theme. It occurred to me that it would be very easy to look up the answers of which breweries were to be found in the places I list so (mainly due to the date of my reference work :-D ) I decided to list ten places and all you have to do is tell me the brewery that was there in 1973, the year of my marriage!! :-D

1, Southwold Suffolk

2, Brierley Hill Staffordshire

3, Halstead Essex

4, Salisbury Wiltshire

5, Blandford Forum Dorset

6, Stamford Lincolnshire

7, Cockermouth Cumberland

8, Pontyclun Glamorganshire

9, Lancaster Lancashire

10, Kimberley Nottinghamshire

There are some alternatives for some of the places but any of them is acceptable providing I have it listed in my pretty comprehensive reference!!

The first correct answer will be awarded up to 100 points based on 5 points per question and 50 bonus for being first and any subsequent correct entry up to 50 points for effort based on 5 points per question !! Have fun :-D
Nice Quiz Mick....Here's my pictoral entry for the 10.
Spoiler: show

Thanks Mick I did, Salisbury proved the most difficult, but the nature of the quiz did involve a delve which I enjoy.

http://breweryhistory.com/wiki/ was an excellent resource with a fair crop of pics

You've completed the task Mick with flying colours all correct in the spoiler. This site here made for some nostalgic reading, could have picked out many more. I had forgotten it but I can hear the manager doing his "Its Great Man" now :-D
