Good effort Bobins that looks tricky, but should be an interesting delve. Maybe I should show my general ignorance with a TOH list to kick off with.

Great looking quiz bobins but I'm tied up with the advent calendar so much that SWMBO is getting restless so I'll have to leave it to the rest to sort it out.
Go on Mick, The N's have just about run out....try a top of the head list at least with no research, I'll do the same before I delve.
TBH, I'm not expecting that many participants, but the more the merrier There's no particular closing date for it, but I'll mark any answers (in spoilers) as they come in. A lot of the cars are from 'everyday' manufacturers, but some of them were aimed at the more well healed owner.
Clues can be given for anyone seeking a full house or who are intrigued

I think we can agree on the fact that it's an estate
Its RHD too, but would it be giving too much away looking at your 20, and the book being called the "observers book of Automobiles" will we have to go across the pond for any of the 20 or are they virtually all cars you would see on UK roads for that time period.

You've fallen for the trap - they're not from the Observer's book They are all British though, as that's what the book says they are
