- A and D are darts related. A are the doubles, clockwise (starting with double 1), so the sequence would then be 20, 30, while D are the trebles, anti-clockwise (starting with treble 5), so the next numbers will be 24 and 48.

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Erm, if it's increasing motorway numbers, where would the M18 fit in to the sequence ?mickthemaverick wrote: ↑08 Apr 2020, 19:08 It is indeed motorway related. You might argue that the number 26 has been left out of the sequence and that maybe 2 shouldn't really be there but the rest are definitely correct and so are the missing two.
A & D are related by the same pub game and B is car related!!

It looks like B could actually be followed by:
343, 345.... but there's several missing from the sequence in the question

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
If I said B is Production Road models would that clarify why it appears some are missing?
In fact on reflection that may be misleading, In fact it is a list of 2 seater V12 production road models!!
As to the motorway question 18 is definitely not involved and nor is 42!!

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
I got to 23 on the shipping forecast areas, paused a few minutes, came back and swapped the order a bit, added 6 more. Maybe I should have got the lot.
The motorways - are these the ones either to/from London or attached to the M25? So 3 4 and 40 missing.

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Yes they are the clockwise motorway routes from London, 40 is not missing its just the next one after the 3 and 4 going clockwise round the M25. I excluded the M26 cos its really just a slip road between the 25 and the 20 so I ignored it, as for the M2 I included that to try and make the sequence more confusing and my justification is that it is a radial reached from the M25 and goes out to Kent whereas the 26 is a link road!!

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Well to satisfy the hundreds of you who are still puzzling over my number sequences I can tell you the answers are:
A 20, 30 The value of doubles round a dartboard going clockwise!
B 375, 410 Ferrari production road cars with 2 seats and the V12 engine.
C 3, 4 Radial Motorways from London going clockwise around the M25
D 24, 48 The value of trebles round a dartboard going anti-clockwise
E 82, 27 The number of moons orbiting each planet in our solar system working out from the sun.
The usual 2 quiz rules apply here:
1 The author is always right!
2 If he isn't rule 1 applies!!

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Let's give this one a try. There are seven clues with one word answers. When you have all seven you have to link them using five "and"s and one comma. Then the answer I am after is what comes next?
Here are the clues:
1. Nickname of John Wayne's firefighting character.
2. The colour of Donovan's truelove's hair
3. The Lily who saved the human race.
4. Possibly a murdering member of the clergy.
5. It is said that this squash made Richard Branson his first fortune
6. You have to get hurt to win this heart
7. You have to be clever and athletic to get one of these.
So who will be the first?

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Red and Yellow and Pink and Green, Orange and Purple and Blue, I can sing a rainbow.
The actual colours of a rainbow are (in order) Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. I learnt that in Primary School, along with the 'name' of the 'man' who discovered them, Roy G. Biv.

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Well done James, according to the forum time that took 21 minutes, take 10 points. That was a lot quicker than the last one. Yes I always assumed they used poetic licence to have pink in the song to match the rhythm! As I am sure everyone knows Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain definitely does not have a P in it!! Back to the drawing board for me then!!

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Interesting note to that last quiz, I was listening to the original recording by Peggy Lee when I noticed that she sang "Purple and Orange and Blue".:
I realised I may have slipped up and went back to check. It seems I did not make a mistake as there are several versions quoted in various places on the web. "Orange and purple and blue" being the alternative which I chose for the quiz from Cilla Black's rendition:
