Repair parts formed in sheet steel

Thin Steel for the body work

Hammering the shape for the box section in the thick steel was hard work to get an accurate fit. Now the box section is fitted I will trim the rail U section to be a better fit/look better when welded in.

exactly the same areas as my 'Spares' ZX was rotten in (it probably had rot elsewhere too, but I never bothered to investigate)

a young Jeremy Clarkson was impressed with the ZX back in the day.

Yes, my friend up the hill is lending me his MIG set up, better than struggling with a Stick Welder

Definitely a MIG job; a stick welder will jut blow holes in it!

I need to get practising and master the art in readiness for potential welding on Jodie ;)

I have a goal in 2018 to get to grips with both welding and bodywork fettling... Jodie will act as a practice piece for me...

Thanks Alasdair, I will do :) You can then teach me the art and that will be excellent :)

Does any of this spare steel include a xantia hatch rear left door to replace mine which has a creases in it before I paint the car? Not really worried about colour, just not rusty or bashed.

Pallet to the depot for pickup might be cheaper ?...I can wrap it as I have a fair amount of bubble wrap here and could put some thin ply to protect it.

If a price which is reasonable could be found to send it to a couriers Aberdeen depot it may interest me. Most couriers charge a standard price for Aberdeen, then use a random number generator to do the last 45 miles to me, witness the "free uk mainland postage" quoted for a pug 107 engine that turned into a £100 surcharge. Last time I looked I was still on the UK mainland. There is no sea between Aberdeen and Macduff.

Not yet there isn't... Just give global warning a bit of time to get its act together ...

Seriously, could you have it shipped to Aberdeen and then collect it from there perhaps... A bit of diesel may be cheaper than the surcharge and it'll make a nice day out...
