.... they put thicker & stronger competition head gaskets in them and/or skim the pistons ? to lower the compression & cope with the extra pressure ....
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
"Skim the pistons ?" [8D]
- that would be the most sure way asking for an engine crash with a turbo fitted [8][B)]
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
i know what you saying thats why i put the [?] after skim.it has been known to do this just to save a few £.
check these out, standard pistons in a turbo'd saxo vtr.

[8D][8D]
- indeed many y's since I last saw a similar piston fault !
That were in the days where twin/quad carbs, head skimming & higher pre-ignition settings caused burnt thru pistons also [8D]
- well - it's the never ending story I suppose. Trying to get fun & sport with cars - using shortcuts [:p]

You lucky guys can buy guenuine CX GTi Turbos, BX16valves and all sort of interesting cars. Why bother with this 'rice boy' crap [:o)]
If I lived in the UK I'd have a farm full of CX GTi Turbo's, BX16valves (series I), SM's from france and maybe a little R5 GT turbo as a 'round town' car [:D]
All these interesting cars that don't need to be, er, 'enhanced' [;)].

Right, I've looked around the web and found loads on Saxo VTR & VTS Turbo's both of which are 1.6[?] but no-one seems to have done a 1.4.
The guys that have done the 1.6's have also done some other tinkering.
I'm just looking at bolting the turbo on, and changing the parts that need changing but can't find any guides.
Also to get the compression right could I take the pistons out of another citroen??
Cheers

Wheeler, nice piston pics, but not as good as the bloke I used to work with who had a piston from a Honda 600cc motorbike engine on his desk that had dropped a valve on the track.... Nice circular stamp marks all over the crown - until the stem had snapped and the valve head turned sideways whereupon it chopped holes into the piston. The underside of the head looked the same apparently.....

I know of a few saxo westcoasts & pug 106 Quiksilvers (both 1.4's) with the turbo conversion.but your right it is mostly vtr/vts's with the turbo or sc conversion.
