Yes there was one of those cardboard cut out Policemen in a small Boots chemist at the little place of "Sherburn-in-Elmet" near Leeds.....home of a Rolls Royce scrapyard amongst other things.

The tag line something like, "Police Patrol this Store".......was crying out for an additional comment like....
...and that's why we haven't the time to investigate burglaries.

Notices..what have you spotted?

Fake or Real? 100% Real.....one of many on display at the National Railway Museum in York.

When you have to go to the trouble of casting-iron, and having the message letters and words in relief to be subsequently highlighted in white, you have to be sure that the message chosen, is both important, and expressed in the clearest possible terms.

I presume with this notice Cheshire Lines must have had a serious "Fishporter in the Closet" problem.

One of my local garages had a sign that said "Labour charge £25 per hour - £35 per hour if you watch - £50 per hour if you help. "

There's a sign in a Dublin suburb that reads "weaving cyclists ahead" I assume they must loom out of somewhere

The Peak and Northern Footpaths Society, have 388 signposts, fingerposts, plaques etc which direct and inform walkers in the Peak District and beyond. Some of the signs still survive from the early 1900's.

Here's an example.......helps walkers to flash bottom :-D

Nice. Or if you google police van sliding door, it will read lice.

Again, reminds me of similar on a bakery delivery van about pies.

An innocent marketing phrase for products like this

Waitrose

you count

The message got a bit more blunt, when they put it in the shop window....
