If you reply with the VIN of the vehicle, we can look up the correct specification.

Re: Aisin Tf-80 / AM6 Oil Change Questions (Mini-Guide Page 4)
I did my 2015 C5 2.2 litre 150Kw which has the AT6 gearbox. 132,000 km. Put in a Liqui Moly ATF flush tin o' goo. The ATF came out practically black. I used 3 x 4 litre containers, one each time. Ran the engine halfway through each fill, changing gears just to make sure it all 4 litres would go in. Lovely clean red at the last level drain. Seems to drive better (though it felt nearly ok before).
Another discovery - I have a friend with a 2015 120Kw 2 litre C5. The gearbox in it is also the AT6 (not the AM6) - either due to the increased power & torque over earlier 2 litres, or maybe they just changed all cars after a certain date to this gearbox. We're thinking this must use the higher spec ATF I used in mine, not the JWS 3309 that one of the oil manufacturer's Lubematch site recommended.

Never use JWS 3309 in a Euro 5 AT6 / AM6 gearbox. You must use the AW-1 fluid or equivalent specification. A 2015 manufactured C5 X7 will be at least Euro 5.

wfdTamar - if you subscribe with your £10 for 2 years , the admin team can (using your car VIN), tell you exactly what you need as fluid in your gearbox

I know what to use. My point was the oil manufacturers site didn’t know.

Hi!
Im uncertain about the oil needed in my car VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Local dealer refuses to sell the o-ring and washer needed, insisting I should bring it in for a 500 eur 3L change. Is the o-ring of standard type?

Re: Aisin Tf-80 / AM6 Oil Change Questions (Mini-Guide Page 4)
Take out the air filter box and check the label on top of the gearbox. That should confirm which you have. You can't rely on the year of your car determining which gearbox you have. Then you/we can work out the ATF you need. €500 is very expensive for a 3 litre change (even allowing for high Swedish costs). The ATF is not particularly expensive. You could DIY it if you have somewhere you can put the car on wheel ramps. Or if you don't want to DIY you could try a non dealer garage which should be able to do it cheaper. You just need to be sure they have a computer connection for Citroens to reset the ATF change thing.
A 3 litre change is not going to do much unless you did it every year (too expensive), so that over a few years the whole lot would gradually get changed. I think you're better to do 3 changes all at the same time, then tell the car you have done it with the Lexia.
You might get the drain plug washer and O-ring (which is nothing special) from the UK. It might be worth having a look at the condition of the smaller bolt in the centre of the drain plug, as some people have said it is damaged and they needed a new one. Mine was fine, but Australia is easier on cars underneath.

As long as you have access to a Lexia or suitable diagnostic system that can reset the oil counter you can do this yourself:dme88 wrote: 20 Sep 2020, 02:52 Hi!

As Bill has mentioned - about 3 changes should be done about a month apart (depending on your mileage), to allow the oil to circulate and pick up any crud before the next change. About 3 changes will be as near to a complete change as you can get without breaking the bank - as the oil is expensive. (I've replied to your PM regarding the type of oil you need for your specific X7).
As for the seal, ignore the dealer - just ring up and order the part yourself.
For your specific AM6:
The oil plug seal is item (5) on the diagram and is part number: 221923. (Dimensions: 20 X 27 - 2) and costs (UK prices) £4.14 inc. our 20% VAT., for reference. Most dealers should have a parts section - so just ring up and ask for parts and ask if they have it in stock - pop in and pay for it. Don't go via the servicing department as of course they will try and get you to book it in for a service.

I didn’t renew the washer on the top fill point (40Nm). The drain plug washer I did (50Nm), but as the smaller leveling bolt (which is the centre of the drain bolt) is only done up to 8Nm you may get away without replacing the O-ring on it. However if you can buy the bigger washer, you might as well get the O-ring too.

Replaced parts 3, 4 and 5 but not 2 in the diagram above. Make sure you have good torx sockets, the top one is particularly tight.

Thanks. This all seem very much work too me tho. I thought one 3L change would be enough for another 100 000km
If one does nothing, at what mileage do the boxes fail?

Re: Aisin Tf-80 / AM6 Oil Change Questions (Mini-Guide Page 4)
Depends on mileage, but more importantly usage. I bought mine at 160k but all motorway, a lot have failed much earlier. I'll have a look in a bit for a link to a supplier that I bought 20 litres from for about 70 squid in the UK. All the specs for oil were good, Give it 2 or 3 flushes then a partial (3l) change at 10k intervals, sorry you're in KM so 16k intervals and my kilometres were 257k.

Re: Aisin Tf-80 / AM6 Oil Change Questions (Mini-Guide Page 4)
Im at 13k km, so I think I will leave it as is for now. Found no mechanic to do it and the oil is expensive. As I understand it, when they break its the valves and the cost is around 500 EUR + work.
