Re: just to confirm turbo failure
TBH, we got lost way back on page1, I just wanted to eliminate the oil coming from your crankcase breather where it enters the intake, pre-turbo.
Re: just to confirm turbo failure
As in split the pipe connection, put a container underneath and see if the oil drips out there when the engines running?

Re: just to confirm turbo failure
Whatever works! We've established oil's coming out the post-turbo pipework, just need to confirm it begins at the turbo and not coming from further upstream, the breather.

Re: just to confirm turbo failure
I may be wrong on your model but I think the bit on the cover adjacent to the breather pipe (with the round bit on top) is a valve designed to maintain a negative pressure in the crankcase and stop crankcase pressure from blowing oil out of the breather and blowing seals and at the same time prevent oil getting into the breather hoses
On the older engines it was a separate part stuck into the side of the rocker cover.

There's always going to be some, that's the nature of oil, it sneaks through in atomised droplets in the air.

Re: just to confirm turbo failure
yeah that it would be my take on it, unfortunately it points to the turbo now am I correct. which means I need to pull the engine to get at it.

Mark 1 C5 2.0 HDI 110 turbo can be changed from underneath, no need to pull the engine, it is a bit of a Chinese puzzle to get it out round the obstructions though.

Re: just to confirm turbo failure
I need to change gaskets for intake and exhaust while i am at it anyway. would stem seals cause this amount of oil in the turbo pipes ?

Re: just to confirm turbo failure
How is it going lads I just want to update this thread I have removed the engine and gear box and have it sitting on drive way . I pulled the injectors and discovered one was coming apart at the fuel feed so I replaced it but the thing that is worrying me is there was oil everywhere and more importantly all over the injector barrel's I think its from the rocker gasket which I have also replaced along while re-seating and fitting new copper and plastic seals on the injectors. But deep in the bad injector port was a lot of carbon build up which without pulling the head I cant clean 100%. Do I have to change head gasket if I remove head ? or will the carbon burn off with new injector . just another thought has anyone tried running 2 stroke through the fuel system. there seems to be a lot of speculation on line but no specific evidence. I am checking everything while I am at it and just dont want to put all back and discover it needs to com back out again.any input welcome
Darren

Well you need to change head gasket if you pull it. What miles do you have on the donkey lump anyway?
Exhaust valve stems worn lare usually evident by much smoke on overun in 3rd gear down a steep hill at speed. Smoke at start up in morning, but not if car is left a few days as oil just goes to sump. You have engine out so may as well go whole hog now if car is a good un?

Re: just to confirm turbo failure
Hi Lexi she only has 220000 which is small miles on these as you probably know, I might change all as its on the driveway and no major panic to put it back together she might do another 220, its smokey when revved all the time which tells me it must be turbo oil seals gone, because she runs too well for rings to have failed ,have a swap turbo that is definitely better than the original , the shaft on the original was fairly wobbly. Its a love hate relationship I love when she works but hate how often she doesnt overall she is a good car.
