+1 for J&R CV joints, used them through their ebay shop before and been impressed with the price & quality of the kit they supply.

Re: xantia drive shaft seals
When I got my 1st (Citroen) driveshaft from J&R, I asked about seals - & was told they didn't do them.
Then again, I always have to phone them because they don't list the C15, but do carry the shafts ; presumably they, unlike me, know which Pug 205 ones are the same.
Now, here's a funny thing: I KNOW that, this afternoon, I submitted a post agreeing with Richard's suggestion that the metal outer wasn't supposed to have come out & referring back to my post on the 4th & yet, when I comen back to it, to see if there've been any developments - it's nowhere to be seen!

I was curious, so had a look - far too complicated for me AND, in any event it entails signing up, user names, passwords; all anathmas to to this simple soul (with Luddite leanings)
As for ekjdm14's idea, I've no how to do a screenshot on this laptop, so might have a look at that tomorrow at work - IF I can access the picture there.

I have just refreshed my own memory on the screenshot, you hit Ctrl + Prt Sc & it copies the screen to your clipboard, then you can paste it in paint etc to edit

Thanks, I'll have a play with that later - once I've identified the "print screen" key on my laptop!

Re: xantia drive shaft seals
Update
Got the correct seal from the dealer for €€€, fitted it, changed driveshaft, filled gearbox oil, and started engine.
And ... the noise is still there albeit a lot quieter ... I'm guessing the differential is fecked, and it's time to put the auld girl to rest.
How it happened, dogbone poped off, car was driven with nose down arse up for around 20 miles if even, grinding noise developed and got worse, inspection discovered there was well under 1l of gearbox oil in the gearbox, driver side driveshaft seal had failed.
I doubt I'll find another Xantia HDi exclusive estate :'(

Re: xantia drive shaft seals
No - but finding another 'box shouldn't be so difficult & fitting it is a little less work than doing a clutch.

Found it - it's the one rather more prominently marked "END".
You'd have though my now, there'd be an industry standard keyboard.

too much work for me to do, and too much cost for a car that is trying it's darnest to die.
