Being Ford Consul Capri day and wondering if that bluey/purple paint on the Corsair was a ford original, came across this little restoration project on retrorides.

Now he starts off with what I would call an already decent car and paint job, in a similar shade to the Corsair, and then opts for a different paint job in a deeper "cadbury purple" as he describes it, and 5 years later it emerges as a finished job.

Without nicking the photos, a small flick through the short thread shows some nice pics and I would have been perfectly happy with the before, and driven it around for the 5 years rather than re-invent the "after".

So I wasn't the only one to brush paint cars, I brush painted a Vauxhall Victor 101 (FC?, not coke bottle) in powderbkue/white two-tone (Blue below glass line, white above), but it turned damp overnight and ended up with white dots along blue upper wing edges! 🙄

I brush painted a Hillman Imp, bright yellow.
The people I worked for hated it and I had to park round the back, with the other 'socially unacceptable' wrecks. It became acceptable when they needed me to go and take photo's of Henry Cooper in a bit of a rush.

Also hand painted my GS, but white. Ten coats of Tekaloid.

I brush-painted my first Mini :D Used a paint especially for the purpose. I can't exactly recall the name now but 'Re-Paint' rings a vague bell... Internet searches draw a blank...

There definitely was a "Re Paint" on the market, I have seen it used by a mate but used Tekaloid myself, as it was what was in the carbits shop I used.

I like this chaps approach and he does a very decent job. More than decent enough for the BB Micra :-D. He is doing a Jim...hand painting a mini.

Had to smile at the end when he said...

"I'll put a few more videos on, when and as I do them, that's if you want to see them. If you don't, don't watch them simple as that!"

My view entirely...watch it if you want, I enjoyed it!

and from the transient e-bay where occasionally old tins of paint are offered for sale, today Sunday 18th April in the year 2023, the FCF bags a tin of "repaint" to preserve for the internet enquiries of future generations.
