Having rediscovered Jonathan Porterfield, very well respected , and running for many years his UK-wide Ecocars business from Orkney, sourcing EV's for clients here he is bang up to date taking us through a recent trade sale for EV's at Aston Barclays

This is how second hand EV's end up on the forecourts of trade dealers across the Country. Covers leasing companies with cars coming off 3 year or 4 year lease deals in the main.

Jonathan Porterfield takes us through a recent auction at Aston Barclay focussing specifically on used EV trade sales.

I found his chuntering informative, not being a trade auction expert. I've watched plenty auctions of classic cars taking ages to get to the point of a sale. The trade auction they whip through quick style and there isn't much ridiculous overbidding to secure a sale. The participants are well used to the cap prices, and they need to buy cars with a margin for the expected retail. He basically was running through a little bit about the cars the different conditions/spec, and the prices as they flowed through the auction. I was more interested in the lower priced vehicles flowing through than the Tesla's some of which the leasing companies opted a try again policy and weren't sold at the price the trade bidders were willing to pay on that occasion.

At the end of the vid he says he will be doing an EV trade Auction Vid each month and mentioned both Aston Barclay and another one which I will post up when I find it. Maybe you have to be registered with them to watch live stream of the trade auctions. The trade auctions were not just EV's so his video obviously edited out the non-ev's going through the actual auction which no doubt went on for hours!

The auctions he plans to cover are trade sales at Shoreham Vehicle Auctions or Aston Barclay each month picking out the EV's going through the sale.

^^^^^^^^
I bought my first Xantia from Shoreham Vehicle Auctions. I got it for just below reserve, I think it was ex-lease :)

When I was trading I was a registered buyer at the Westbury Auction Neil but I don't think it was aston-barclay back then.
I bought quite a few ex B&NES council vehicles.

I saw this on the TV. 30 seconds. Official Advert from DACIA 2nd Generation Spring (UK didn't get the 1st Gen)
Headline price featured in the advert from £14,995

Plenty of vids to find if 30 seconds isn't enough. Does have DC charging and also you get with the car a free V2L adapter ( Vehicle to Load-lets you plug stuff in to the car with normal 3 pin plugs). More battery/range than my first generation Leaf. Reportedly 6 miles/kWh which is absolutely outstanding EV economy. I am currently getting 4.7m/kWh out of the leaf, but many of the big battery SUV's struggle to get 3m/kWh because they are big and heavy, and not slippery enough in shape.

From the DACIA spring which is at least attempting to offer value for money at a new price category, to the revival of the Ford Capri which, along with the Ford Explorer, is a different top on the VW MEB skateboard starting north of £40,000.

Plenty of videos to seek out if you want to find more about it some entitled "Have Ford finally lost the plot :?: "

You could try this one, likely to be no worse and no better than the rest

The Great Wall Ora 03 2024 is priced in its home country at $14,600 or around £11,300.
https://carnewschina.com/2024/04/27/gre ... -in-china/
UK Price starts at around £32,000.

The myth of cheap Chinese imports. It is currently not in China's interest to supply cars at low margins to the UK and European Market. They can provide cars with specifications which match and exceed similarly priced cars manufactured by the legacy European makers, and make higher margins on each car sold than they can in their own home market.
