Re: New Top Gear
Matt is still part of the current team, but I believe that this is his last series (which, I feel, is a shame, as he does add to the show).

The twenty-sixth series will be the last with LeBlanc.

Saw this again by accident, and surprised myself by having my interest raised with the first item.
Renault's protege from Romania Dacia, produces one of the cheapest new cars available in the UK apparently and for a similar price around the £6,000 mark, the trio of presenters were tasked with selecting a classic to put up against the Dacia, in a series of their "tests"
Up they rolled with A Rolls Royce, a Bentley, and a Mercedes, and from taking an interest in the classic auctions a lot of these expensively price tagged motors when new, now sell for less than Fiat 500's and Mk1 Escorts
Yes I know in the interests of entertainment the "tests" are designed to be a bit silly! I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Unsurprisingly the Roller was flat as a f***, and wallowed in a boat-like fashion when sped round the track, and in the straight line driving test with no hands veered off the track. Don't like wilful damage though crashing into stuff.

New New New Top Gear
Anyone care to add to my own review.....(posted originally on the leccy vehicles thread seeing as it got brought up there.)
regards NeilNewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑24 Jun 2019, 10:18 Oh No. Watched that Top Gear. Thought it would be a shout at the Telly fest which in reality it was...but......
shame on me, I was involuntarily laughing not just once but quite a bit with the ridiculous slapstick capers in the 3 supposedly leccy sports cars on a budget. Never found Clarkson/Hammond and May remotely funny but McGuinness and Flintoff are and I'm warming slightly to Harris too!
Danny Boyle and Himesh Patel were good too and their film "Yesterday" sounds good to me.
To be honest I found the "serious motor journalism bit" ie the review and test of the Tesla model 3 to be the worst bit. As usual totally irrelevant "tests" of speed and handling on a race track.

Re: New Top Gear
I saw the first one with Flintoff and McGuinness, thought it was pretty good. I've seen bits of the 2nd one and it made me laugh out loud, so that can only be a good thing.
Couldn't stand TG with Chris Evans, didn't like Matt Le Blanc either and the Clarkson/May/Hammond ceased to be funny about 2006..
The Grand Tour was s**t.

Re: New Top Gear
Seeing as the Matra Bagheera cropped up on POTD this related piece from the same blog as the lovely yellow Bagheera and the story of the MATRA Murena is a decent read...
REgards NeilHas Top Gear wrecked a Matra Bagheera
I like the "turn of phrase" in the blog it starts
"Yes, Top Gear is back (again), with a fresh bunch of presenters (again), and a new approach (again). Which means social media will be alive with criticism, complaints and carping (again).
This blog isn’t about the rights and wrongs of modern Top Gear. It’s not a yearning for a return to the ‘good old days’; many people seem to forget that there was life before Clarkson et al. A return to the good old days should mean watching Angela Rippon piloting a Ford Capri on the roads of the West Midlands."

Top Gear on tour
Well its not exactly new, but the Top Gear crew have been filming an episode in Northumberland in Electric SUV's, towing little camping pods (one had a trailer tent). Definitely an episode which will interest me, but how far in advance the filming is of the broadcast I have no idea.
This link is the Bamburgh Beach bit posted locally on FB, and probably requires a login to facebook to view.
does the link work?
