Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
What a joy, the absolute classic Nissan Leaf. Supplied by the Chorley Group who certainly used to be very active on SpeakEV, regularly posting up lists of second hand Leafs on various deals, and in general being a very pro-active group in the EV world.
When I see my Leaf parked next to a VW ID3, the general shape and size has many similarities. EV's should be as optimally aerodynamic as possible, even if that did give the first generation of the Leaf a "quirky" look. Remarkable car really, many have clicked over 100,000 miles of solid reliability and low maintenance costs, and have enjoyed the best phase of the electricity/petrol price differential. Really kicking off into the unknown back in 2010 but have proved themselves to be a solidly engineered "perfectly adequate" (and that is a compliment ) competent vehicle, with a decent longevity.
Enjoy, report up your classic Leaf spots if you see one! Regards Neil

I think it cost him over £10 to get just over 40 miles of range on top of what he had remaining - bonkers.

I can tell by the pic on that vid that its not one that I will enjoy. Electric car driving is simple straightforward, calm, relaxing. The look on his face tells me he's not doing it right!

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Saw plenty only one shutter click VW ID4, not as streamlined as it should be, big heavy looking wheels. Still positively sleek and light compared to the Mercedes black brick in another bit of the carpark. Bet I get more miles/kWh in the Leaf.
Its a moving feast of course just like petrol consumption, but the ID4 has a combined motorway/city figure of 297 Wh per mile....translating that's 3.37 miles/kWH. The Leaf is showing 4.5 miles/kWh at the present time.
Regards Neil

If any Forum member was at The Festival Of Speed, Goodwood today they would have seen this set a new hillclimb record;

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Still they talk about range anxiety and how long it takes to charge but how many people regularly do two hundred and forty odd miles without stopping or even two hundred miles a week?
I'm sure that car in a private motorist's hands would need charging less than once a week and at home while he's sleeping, not sitting in the car for hours waiting for it to top up.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Here's another EV spot. A Volvo XC40 Recharge. I'm no car designer but its the wrong shape for an energy efficient vehicle. It is as streamlined as a brick.
Feel free to find a vid to explore its features. In the meantime a single seater mobility thing where you dont get soaked in a thunderstorm, and doesnt take up much of a parking space. https://www.scooterpac.com/products/cabin-car/ 8mph top speed

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Selected at random with the criteria Ginny Buckley Videos reviewing the Volvo Xc40 recharge I have come up with this.
Most reviews by motoring journos and presenters are awful and clichéd in the extreme. I have liked some of Ginny's in the past though, so lets see how she gets on with the Volvo XC 40 Recharge.

Re: Electric Vehicles: What have you spotted?
Got close to a Polestar today, was going to take a photo of the dash but there was no point. Nothing there to photo, just like a Tesla. Is there a rule that electric cars can't have buttons to press in the front? What's next? No indicator stalk ((like BMWs/Audi's) never seen indicators on either) hand motion sensor instead? Swipe down for left/up for right.
