They had to unload a few containers and stack them by the side of the canal, so you may have a bit of a wait for your oven Marc :-D

My dislike is getting worse, the long pauses for dramatic effect (they think) in just about every tv quiz, I'm shouting at the tv "For gawds sake get on with it!"

They'll be excavating that lot in a thousand years or so and re-writing history again saying the Egyptians invented everything they find in there no doubt.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the captain of that ship was just an onlooker while it all went tits-up. Either it was a navigation computer cock-up of Boeing proportions, or someone somewhere else decided to take control of it. There have been some leading comments from various experts which didn't quite add up.

My Mum has a 45' narrow boat. I know she draws about 3'. There have been times when a strong gust of wind has blown us off course, and that can be a bit of a hairy moment or two. People have been a bit sceptical about wind blowing the "Ever Given" off course, but if you compare how large the 'sail' was (cargo and hull above the waterline) against the draught you can see it wouldn't take that much wind to push such a large vessel off course (especially as there is virtually no room to manoeuvre and she would be moving at slow speed, so virtually no momentum to help keep her straight and true).

The Canal is deceptive, it looks wide enough but the actual channel is midstream.

I've swum side to side many times near to El Kirsch, you can stand near to the edge with the water only shoulder high and when a ship passes the water is dragged away right down until you're only ankle deep.

Manufacturers who produce electric power supplies and devices "for the UK market" but don't adhere to the traditional standard that the cable entry is on the opposite side of the unit to the earth pin. eg:
PSU , own work
PSU , own work
What's wrong with that? you may well ask.........try plugging it into the timer that has always been there and worked fine with the old aquarium lights I was replacing:
Timer, own work
Timer, own work
See the issue? The "heel" end of the psu prevents you pressing the unit into the socket because it is on the wrong side of the plug!!!

I had a choice of buying a new timer, no sense when the old one works just fine, or changing the PSU around, all moulded so not possible. In the end I used an old fashioned 2 way "cube" style adapter in the timer outlet and then the PSU into that lifting the heel clear of the timing mechanism. But it shouldn't be necessary, standards are standards. That PSU can't be used in traditional timers, outside IP65 sockets, high wall mounted sockets or even any socket mounted close to ceilings or under cupboards etc. B***** useless :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz: :taz:

And the plastic earth pins.
I have several power supplies here that only work in one socked as that pin has broken off in the socket so is the only one with open gates for the power supply to fit in.

Not a beer drinker but did like Löwenbräu when I was in Munich. It isn't the same here.
Also the 'Rocket' beer in Brussels. Perhaps as the hotelier brought it out for us all free - I wasn't even booked in. That was a great hotel, Auberege Von Strombeek. Only selected for the 'Auberge' in the name.
Because:-

Of course, Chris Rhea likes his cars.

I usually have Tyskie here - rarely but it is sometimes just the right thing. My kids are very disparaging about it, but that doesn't stop them drinking it, which is why I rarely get any.
I have some Tsing Tao here to try. One day.

I was inspired by a bit in The Hobbit about mushrooms and beer. Big disappointment - the mushrooms were OK though.

Just finishing my birthday present Courvoisier off :)

Electronic banking transaction limits!!!

Once my friend had decided to buy the car today she elected to pay by bank transfer. Opened her secure banking app on her iphone and went through the necessary procedure to transfer the money. She found she had a £1000.00 per day transaction limit from the app!!! There followed 50 minutes of attempting to contact her bank, ring customer services, contact local branch, listen to tedious minutes of "Your call is important to us ...." etc and finally after 45 minutes of aggravation got through to a human being who was able to override the system and transfer her money from her account to the chap she was paying's account. So if you are thinking of trying to steal some money from an account, the best method is to talk to a bank human who can overide all the built in security measures of the electronic banking system and just transfer money from an account that you can give card details of over the phone to prove your identity!! Crazy!!!

I had trouble paying for the Civic last year as they blocked the payment presuming it was a scam, although I had made payments to the same place previously.
Used the chat line - not the phone - and it was approved.

I suspect they still had to go through security measures before they did that and possibly also using a OTP to verify identity Mick. I've just sold 2 cars and both transfers went through in seconds :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D
