My "complete bollocks" deflector is rebooting, ready for the next seven weeks.
I'll also be in France for the week before the election, with no access to a telly! Perfect timing! Postal vote, then simply ignoring it all is the way to go.

I'm now ignoring all references to it and keeping away from radio and TV as much as I can...

This is the first I've heard of it.
No Tv and seldom look at the news, load of depressing bull as far as I'm concerned.
I'll stick to cds and vinyl too which won't take much willpower.

Re: Dump Your Deezel
Plans for a diesel scrappage scheme may well have to be published before the election if this article is to be believed.
http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/car ... l-Election
It does have within it a video of a Government minister, warbling through some ideas, which could mean that the scrappage scheme might not just involve changing your car but could include "a public transport ticket, a car club membership, rail season ticket, or a new bicycle...." along the lines of the "pollution reduction voucher scheme in Southern California."

Ahh, so does that mean I could swap Gabriel for a new bike?
I'd take anything spouted by the government at the moment with a very large shovelful of salt!

Epitaph on the gravestone of a typical politician;
Here lies the body of our MP,
He promised great things for you and me,
His words and deeds he did not fulfil,
And although he is dead he is lying still!

Another thing they were trying to take into account was targeting the scrappage scheme to the areas with the worst traffic pollution. Rural Northumberland and Milton Keynes ahem....Newport Pagnell....may not be on the list! It could turn into a "postcode lottery" (now where is chambre cent-un to deposit political cliches in!......here on the FCF of course.....)

Re: Dump Your Deezel
Ahh yes, we are hardly congested or polluted around here...
The worst pollution I encounter is a massive pile of manure a farmer loves to pile up in his field right by the roadside
That makes me ride by it as quickly as I can... It's a tad malodorous... Makes me wonder what the animals that produced it eat!
Definitely one for chambre cent-un...

Re: Dump Your Deezel
Well today is the day the Government have published this, after being forced to by the Courts.
The chapter and verse is here if you want to form your own view....
DEFRA-Consutation:Improving air quality: national plan for tackling nitrogen dioxide in our towns and cities
Some of the adjectives used so far include "Toothless", "Weak", "Feeble", "Woefully Inadequate", haven't found a decent positive comment for balance!
