Does gimp handle exif properly ?

I don't really want to use screen capture and further degrade the quality of marginal images by additional saving. (See my 2CV spotted photos which were the ones that prompted this current attempt at photo uploading - already not great quality as they are crops from a dashcam video frame)

The current stable release is 2.8.22. There are Exif Viewer extensions freely available, but I tend to use Photoshop in the main (as I couldn't be bothered to learn another image editing programme). I do dive into Gimp every now and then, but as luck would not have it, I am shortly going to be in the middle of a Windows 10 repair, so can't look into anything deeper right now. Here's the link though:
