The current state of play of "convert your classic" is eye-wateringly expensive.

This probably takes the biscuit.

Everatti............ever heard of them? Well they are from the UK, Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire to be precise, and they have just announced they are taking pre-orders for Land Rover Series IIA conversions.

Their words...their quotation in dollars..may indicate where they expect to find the mugs
https://www.everrati.com/news/
Prices start at $206,000, which includes a donor vehicle.

Back to the pioneering days of EV conversions using heavy Lead-Acid 12V batteries, and old Fork Lift truck motors on a shoestring.

A few early conversions and d.i.y. EVs got put together with motors etc from a milk float repairer at Alfold Crossways, on the A281 in Surrey. Paid a visit there decades ago (I lived just down the road in Bucks Green), with the owner saying that milk float motors could last more or less forever, because they were essentially 72v units run at 24v. Explains the leisurely delivery.

As a teenager in west Ealing, a neighbour had an Austin Seven chassis, with two-seater ali/timber body, lead-acid in the rear, with which he commuted Ealing to West End daily. Bright red, pretty much silent, and named Baby Zeta. That was around 1964, iirc.

The Australian Jaunt company produce this Series Landrover EV.

Some of their vlogs are interesting, some are not. I used one of their vlogs to support and add to the home built Suzuki I talked about elsewhere.

"You know that everybody is looking for an SUV currently, and to just do a coupe would be really difficult"
..."for that we will just have to wait for the SUV boom to fall off"

Interesting piece on the current state of conversions. Small scale, high price, can't compete with with getting a new one, can't compete with getting a second hand one. I like what Bristol Based Fellten are doing but cant see it breaking out of the niche market it is working in any time soon. Felten's youtubechannel is here for more of what they do,
