That flywheel crack is indeed truly bizarre... One thing is for sure - it is scrap. Don't risk trying to use it or attempt a repair Paul as it its likely to fail very violently. It is a lethal weapon in waiting.

Thank goodness eagle-eyed readers on here spotted it....

Paul, please don't dispose of the old, dead 4HP20... Someone wants it... I have sent you a Whatsapp message about it ;)

Have you got any pictures of the friction face of the flywheel paul? has it been cooked by a slipping clutch or enthusiastic/abusive driver?

I might be wrong here but I'm not convinced that's a crack. It looks to me more like a cobweb or a small twig that's been picked up when the flywheel has been on the ground. It could be that the flash from the camera is making it appear more like a crack.

Closer inspection definitely required.

While awaiting a Video to process before I can post a link, I spent 20 mins tonight closely examining the flywheel!

There IS NO crack on it... absolutley none! Thats a pretty damm convincing picture I took above, and I beleve'd there was, but, no there isnt!

Its a clear and clean as i whislte! Theres a lot of debrie at the farm, from leaves to miniscule twigs! Once the video has formatted Ill post it up..

Thanks for all inputs, worrying or not, but Im happy there is nothing wrong with the said flywheel!

No problem, I'll be in touch about the gearbox shortly Paul. Just got to tell work what I'm bringing along and agree how long it can be where for with them.
