The plip is rf Jim. Maybe it was a transition period. I'll have to see if anything is behind the "blob".

Re: Citroen Synergie 1.9td.
I had a phonecall from Kia this morning about the corrosion on the Venga. After what seemed like an age they finally had permission to fit two doors. "Sorry dear" said I. "I've sold it...." Six years old and clicked over 30k last week with rotten doors. The Sportage, Soul and the Cee'd all have the same problem.
Kia have a 12 year anti perforation guarantee but they recently moved the goalposts. They said the rot is caused by a faulty door seal and therefore comes under the 7 year mechanical warranty. How crafty is that? They must use the same door seal on every model.

I'm shocked there should be rust so early on Dave...
Bit cheeky on their warranty aren't they...

To be fair Jim it wasn't a bad car but it wasn't the best.

Re: Citroen Synergie 1.9td.
We went to see some friends yesterday who live about 15 miles away so gave the bus a run down the M5 to their place. It holds its own quite well in traffic and romped up the hilly bits on the M5 at about 65mph with plenty of power as the turbo is just on song then.
Now I'm getting used to it there are a few things I'm beginning to notice.
Firstly the gearbox is noisy with a pronounced whirring in all gears that disappears at 2000rpm then becomes smooth and quiet. Is this the BE3 or ML5 box? I'm not sure. I see there are seal and bearing kits on ebay available.
I think I can smell coolant when the engine warms up but checking the header tank revealed clean antifreeze to the level mark. Just in case this is the first sign of a leak I'm going to pop a small bottle of KSeal in.
The power steering is a tad on the heavy side. Can power steering fluid go "off"? I might try siphoning some out and topping up with new to see if that makes it a bit easier. Many years ago my son sent his 306 in for a service and a few days later said the steering didn't feel right. We lifted the bonnet and it looked like some idiot had topped the resevoir up with water! The fluid was bright pink. We bought some new fluid and kept siphoning and topping up for a few days until it was a nice cherry red again and the steering felt fine.
I think one of the rear wheel bearings is on the way as it's beginning to sing, not sure which one though.
The aircon doesn't work which I was fully aware of anyway and I'm having a new clutch fitted on Wednesday which will hopefully make the pedal feel lighter. Around the town my left leg aches if there's a lot of traffic.
Third gear is impressive once it gets on the turbo!
I gapped a few tail gaters today! And if they still hang on I give them the black smoke treatment.

Dave,
rather than risk K-Seal, try and get hold of Forte Cooling System Stop Leak.
It will not clog things up the way K-Seal would.

Yes, Forte Stop Leak is the only stuff to use. It's expensive but good. Keep away from K-Seal...
I have some in Gabriel at the moment to stave off her matrix replacement for a few months...
I would very much expect it's a BE3 gearbox Dave... Citroen Service will tell you for sure but a quick guide can be got by seeing if it has a cable-operated clutch...
A Power Steering Fluid change will be good. It uses Dexron II I'll assume...

I have some Dexron ll for the Bx gearbox I can use. I might start changing it in the week if the weather holds. I'm busy today and tomorrow, wifey's birthday.

Make sure it's genuine DEX II and not a 'compatible' Dave...

Yes got it from Gsf Jim. Didn't want to wreck the auto box.
