Ah, a like minded sensible person.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

The hydraulic bonnet ram was one of the most useful ideas and one thing I really miss on the X7.

I do have the low screen wash warning on mine - maybe because I have the Xenons with the headlamp washers which can't half shift washer fluid! Not being tight, but if the headlights are on during the day and it's raining, I always switch to sidelights first before blasting the windscreen so it doesn't activate the headlight washers unnecessarily!

:rofl2: Well, a few squirts and you've gone through a litre of screenwash!

No haven't tried that stuff - but if it's got any of the stuff that's in washing up liquid, I'll pass as I don't fancy a new paint job just yet!

That is the point, it does not, it is a soap rather than a detergent...

So long as I'm not leaving a vapour trail of Mr Suds behind me. I doubt it's any good at sub-zero temps. - date I say it, but I use the pink/purple 5 litre super concentrated stuff from Halfrauds - it's about the only thing I can recommend from them. Use it neat.

Yes, it does not prevent freezing, but: my screen wash does not often freeze down here......what is snow ?

I carry the -10 stuff in a 2ltr bottle in the boot, only ever need to use it Jan/Feb

£2.50 for about 30 fill ups ?

4????? sunvisors what the heck ?
if only insurance wasn't so complicated I'm going to name them because they have done me an injustice.
Hastings Direct only count 9 years NCB when I joined them in 2016 I sent them proof that I had 11 years NCB.
via an emailed Pdf document I still have the email requesting this information.
But because they only count nine years they will not honour the original 11 that I joined them with.

Unsure about what NCB allowance I had with them in November 2016 I telephoned them to ask exactly how I stood for NCB
the customer services advisor went off to confirm with his supervisor and came back and told me
it was 11 years, my excuse was that I wanted to look for quotes for vehicles online as I was shopping for a new motor at the time.
On 19th of December 2016 I cancelled this policy on the Xantia as the NCB had to the transferred to the new C5.

Hastings direct are only allowing 9 years NCB as that is the maximum number they go up to.
Unfortunately in June 2016 my hard disk went wobbly and I lost a lot of information but I have found a statement
from 1st Central insurance from the year before stating that I had 10 years NCB.
I have emailed this to Hastings direct along with the policy schedule from More Than insurance for the following year on the same vehicle.
Hopefully they can check that there were no claims made against me between the two dates and get on with awarding my 11 years ncb.

I have had to email Axa insurance who count up to 20 years ncb and apologies for any inconvenience I have had to send them the same information
and ask if they feel that they have to charge me more for my insurance would they please supply a breakdown of the costs as I intend to
put a claim for any extra costs through the small claims courts to claim this money back from Hastings Direct Car Insurance.

Just because one company only counts 9 years NCB surely they cannot ignore the fact that you had 11 when you joined them?
Then reduce you to 9 because that is all the information they say they have on your policy, because that is what they entered
on it at the start of the policy. Ive had this problem with other companies before and had to write very strict letters in order to retrieve my NCB allowance which does significantly affect my insurance prices.

And to top it all off now I have cancelled my insurance on the Xantia I cannot SORN it as the online system does not recognise the 11 digit number on the front of my V5.

In case you wondered I certainly will be avoiding the number 11 in 2017.

I had the same problem and found it frustrating too. I spoke to the old insurer and explained that I had joined with x years so would leave with x + 1. I see it as irrelevant what their maximum discount for the no claims is. How many years I've had no claims for is the figure. They agreed and emailed me a correct statement.

Ive been struggling to find any decent concentrated screen wash this year it all seems to go down to -5 which s rubbish
somebody is watering it down even the so called concentrated stuff.

it can get down to -18 at night here in the ise valley if it snows.

Using Stergene in your screen-wash possibly makes it smell nicer too ;)

I bough some berry scented purple screenwash in Frome Halfrauds when Gabriel's battery died and most of it ended up in the girls' cars... Neither of them are at all fond of the smell of it..

I've yet to sample it but I can't see it smelling worse that the standard blue stuff...

I'm more concerned about it defrosting my windscreen than the smell of it.

That's the one Jim, there are two versions of the 5 litre halfrauds stuff - the concentrated purple stuff protects to -10. Smells ok too.

4 sunvisors - I used them to store documents sandwiched in between the visors - but also good if you unclip the main one off and swing it to the side for long motorway journeys where the sun is on your right and leave the smaller one for the front.

Re your insurance - I must have 15+ years NCB, but none of the ones I have ever used accept more than 9 as that is their max. no claims and wouldn't make any more difference to the policy discount I've been told.

With my sense of smell I'm far more concerned about the latter ;)

I've yet to give it the sniff test myself Marc; I'm just going on what my two most demanding and critical customers tell me

Never realised when I bought it that it protected down to so low...

I shall test it for smell this evening and report back...
