One assumes that when the MOT regulations change to monitor DPF performance there will be set standards for cars to reach and those standards will not apply to older diesels that have no DPF...
This would, I assume, have severe implications for those who have already disabled their DPFs...

Exactly my understanding Jim. They know what cars have DPFs fitted as standard (just as the tester's PC tells him that there is an electronic handbrake fitted for example) and also what the emission parameters are for each car based on its certification at new - so it's not that our cars will have to pass any new standards - only meet those set for our cars as per the certification.

... definitely not the same one then Jim. My Grandad used to build his own - as a kid on rare visits back from abroad, I always remember spending hours in his garage just looking at all the valves and kit he had!

I don't mind telling you how irritated I get when seeing clouds of blue smoke comming out of bus and other vehicle exhausts including the two wheeled variety, when we spend our hard earned on Eolys etc. Perhaps its an age thing.
On the Cactus topic i would like to see coarse wet and dry type material applied onto those door panels for the 'benefit' of the door edges of those who wang their doors open against other cars without a care in the world.

Well said - 'Renegade' has just had his (new to him) C5 X7 door dented in at his local Sainsburys. I had a similar issue at Aldi a few months ago - somebody obviously can't park and left a load of their paint on my door and wing. Thankfully I had a lot of canuba wax applied previously and that helped remove the paint. Extremely annoying and it is times like this when I wish I had electrified bodywork when parked that would give anyone getting too close a good jolt!
