Watching an old episode of The Professionals and a mildly amusing phrase just cropped up. Describing a stolen container of nerve gas, the lab professor just said:

"It's kept in a pressurised vacuum"

Hmmm #-o #-o

I am currently enjoying "Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen" on BBC1. It is remarkable and touching. While the Royal Family can never have a normal life, the footage and photographs show a loving family, albeit in the public eye. The vast majority of the material is from The Queens' private library, a lot of which is narrated by her, and had never before been shown publicly.

I havn't seen any of this year's Britains Got Talent but I caught the start of tonight's show at 8.00. You can catch it at 9.00 on ITV+1 and the first act is a 77 year old soul singer who I thought was amazing for his age.!! :-D

Today, on "The Repair Shop" Steve Fletcher got to repair what is probably the most prestigious item he has ever handled. It was the 103 year old lamp that is part of "The Ceremony of the Keys". One of the feet had been knocked into the base (so it was very wobbly), a couple of glass panels were cracked (so they got a glass specialist to replace them with glass produced in the same fashion), and the handle was loose (both where it fitted to the body of the lamp, as well as where the handle passed through the clamp). It is, I believe, safe to say the Chief Yeoman Warder was more than satisfied with the quality of the work.

"Paul Hollywood's Big Continental Road Trip" was in France, and he was driving a Citroen DS for a while (and loving the suspension, but hating driving through Paris, ESPECIALLY around the Arc de Triomphe!). Later he drives a Peugeot 205 GTi, and liking it as well.

Unusually for me I have just binge watched watched one of those "Scandi Noir" things called Trom, basically because it was set and filmed in the Faroe Islands. Watched episodes 1-5 yesterday one after the other and episode 6 today hoping that all loose ends were going to be tied up. Unfortunately not and door left open for another series right at the end.

40 odd years ago I spent 2 Weeks in the Faroe Islands, and retain an affection for its unique scenery and its people. I presume the language used in the film was Faroese, but I found watching it with subtitles was just fine.

Not car stuff I know but:
I watch a lot of the Scandi series and just last week a Brit one and I wonder if the tobacco industry is getting around the ban on TV advertising by paying writers and producers to include smoking scenes in their productions.

So many of them have chain smoking lead actors unnecessary to the script. :(

I have just watch what I believe is one of the most moving programmes on the BBC.

Rob Burows; Living with MND.

It made me cry, seeing how he was when he was an awesome rugby player, to how he is now. However, despite what MND is doing to his physical body, he is totally positive in his mindset. He is completely reliant on all of his family and friends, and they are utterly devoted to him. He has a wicked sense of humour, and this shows throughout the programme. MND may be destroying his body, but it will NOT break his spirit.

Ditto with Doddie Weir James. Great player with Scotland and the Newcastle Falcons, and always happy to mix with the fans in the clubhouse after the games, and have his photo taken and have a chat.

How to get a beautifully made series almost completely ignored. Air it on Channel 5.

Only just discovered a new crop of episodes of series 3 of the new "All Creatures Great and Small" on channel 5.

We all loved the original, but I have to say the new one is equally as good. The actors are excellent and the "cinematography" is visually stunning, only to be expected of course, but decades ahead of the "original" in that respect.
