There is the River Dee At Aberdeen ( as well as the Don) Mick, but doesnt flow through Aberfeldy Dunkeld, Perth and Dundee. Deeside does have Royal Connections too with Balmoral Castle etc..

I wasn't aware of that Neil, thanks. I have always thought of the Dee as the river through Chester and up to the coast on the western side of the Wirral. I didn't know there were two!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

there are actually two River Dee's in Scotland and more throughout the UK. The Dee is the mainstay of Royal Deeside and Balmoral but there is a lesser known river Dee near Kirkcubright in Dumfies and Galloway and, to add more confusion, there is a river Dee in Cumbria just across the border too. Plus Chester. So if someone gets an invite to fish the river Dee they might have a long walk.

Avon translates from old English as river :-D The 'river avon' is 'river river' There are eight River Avons in the UK mainland. :)
Quite surprised at the multi cultural composition of the teams, the EDL must be having a fit.

there is a beautiful canal viaduct over the river Avon near Linlithgow and we have had the pleasure of staying in Lodges near it and sailing over it to visit the equally lovely licensed cafe on it's north side. We have also sailed to other pubs along the canal which is a contour hugging one with no locks except at Falkirk's Wheel.

Mr Zeng from Singapore was very impressive. Certainly knew his stuff on those venn diagrams of Countries! Rattled through these virtually instantly.

Flags show the other neighbouring Countries to the ones in outline, but your answer is the single shared neighbouring country between the two countries in outline.

As the Pub Pool Winter League has just started up (Mondays) I can no longer test my 'intellect' against BBC2 (which is a shame, as I enjoyed it).

A few days ago the BBC aired the following program. It is about the creation of Simon and Garfunkels' "Bridge over Troubled Water", and has interviews with everybody who had a hand in it (from around the time the album was made and also from far more recently). Getting the acoustics right was a true work of art. In "The Boxer" there are points where two drums are hit simultaneously. The producer found the perfect spot for the sound he wanted; right in front of the doors to a lift. At one point during the recording, just as the drummer hit them the lift doors opened. The poor security guard thought he had just been shot!

I watched the programme. Made really compelling viewing: so much experiment and skill went into getting the (often vocally multi-tracked) sound just right, including making use of corridors and corners not part of the main studios.

BBC Two and Four are currently running some terrific late-evening stuff.
Watched Episode 1 of "The Mother" last night. Plot, cast (Anne Reid, Peter Vaughn, Daniel Craig) and filming quite superb. On iPlayer for 1 year.

They were able (because of how much went into "Bridge") convince the Columbia executives of the need for a 16 track recording system.

And if Simon and Garfunkel isn't to your liking, you could always listen to Half Man Half Biscuit's album - 'Trouble Over Bridgewater'
