I don't know what software package you have, but none of the recent Diagbox ones have The Proxia software!

Is it actually Diagbox you are trying to install or some earlier software? If you have Diagbox 7, that will contain Lexia and Peugeot Planet 2000 as well as Diagbox.

I installed on XP and it was working.

Next time I tried to log in, the machine wanted me to register the functions again but refused to accept the generated key. So swearing ensued.

I tried removing Lexia then reloading, same result.

Thinking it may be to do with XP being a museum piece these days, I bought WIn7 32bit. Loading as an an admin and also using compatibility got me nowhere. So either I'm doing summat wrong (highly likely) or,the software is compromised,

I shal try a reload using a fresh XP system and see what happens. If you hear swearing in Wolverhampton, you know it hasn't worked!!!!!

Ok, well it's not right, and it has to be removed fully or it won't install properly again. There is a Diagbox cleaner tool that cleans up the installation. I would then get a decent copy of Diagbox 7 and start from there.

I have links to both if you want them, send me a PM. If you want help installing, I'll have some time tomorrow after my shed has arrived, so can Dial in if you want. This software is really fussy and I suspect it might be an older version. Anyway offer is there, let me know.

Ay up!

Many, many thanks to GiveMeABreak, aka Marc, for guiding this very confused hammer man through the process of installing a decent version of Diagbox.

Following testing, it would appear that Otterchops' Redundant Brake Switch is defective. Looking at the time, no way am I starting stripping the underside of the dash down!!!!

Lexia says that it is permanently activated. Now, is this likely to be a faulty switch?

Does that switch respond if you press the brake pedal? If it does, then it is working properly, and may be the one that the Cruise Control uses. There are two switches on the brake pedal. One is Push to Make (and is for the brake lights), while the other is Push to Break, and is used to disconnect the Cruise Control. If they are in the same place as on Bluebird access is simple (move the carpet out of the way on the PASSENGER side (I know, but remember, Citroen are FRENCH!), and you will find the foot brake mechanism. Here is a link showing the two switch setup;

Otterchops is an SX - didn't have cruise on the MK1 IIRC James - mine certainly didn't - unless Otterchops is a CC retrofit?...

The CC is a retrofit and the switch does not respond upon pressing the pedal.

So I know where I am going now!

Thanks to all!!!!!

While the C5 Mk1 may not have had Cruise Control fitted as standard (OK, the top models will have), the wiring is in place for it to be an optional extra. My C5 Mk1 VTS did not have it, but the two pole switch was fitted (with 4 wires), so all I needed to do was fit the CC Stalk, then test and activate it with a Lexia.

Yay. Now we need to find out which switch setup Otterchops has.

OK.

Just so I know what I am looking for here.....

Are the two switches identical apart from their colour or are there internal differences? It's just the red ones are pricier than the white ones!!!!

The red one is the Push to Break switch, and is used to disconnect the Cruise Control. The white one Push to Make, and is for the brake lights. However, there is also the possibility you may have both switches combined (and the wiring will have 4 strands), and that is what Bluebird has.

However, before replacing the switch, check that it works by pressing it by hand. It is possible that when it was fitted it may not be contacting properly, and so does not disconnect.
