Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Hi. Yes all multi plugs fitted. Fuse checked in glovebox . Little orange light by the sos button lights up. No details on the screen at all. I can hear a fan running "i think". Thanks

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Well there is power to the unit for sure, so there is nothing whatsoever displayed on the colour screen then? If not, you can try the BSI reset procedure now that you have connected it all back up. Not that fails I am thinking either the display screen has gone or there is a configuration parameter issue that may of been changed preventing the data from being displayed as per my previous post. A Lexia should be the next step to be able to check what is going on by interrogating the audio ECU.

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
If it is determined that the Head unit or the screen is faulty after a diagnostic - here's a link to a couple of places that can repair these units:

Hi, yes all the plugs are in the back. Nothing on screen. Checked fuse is ok. Tried button. I only get an orange light by the sos button.
Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
hi, I checked the fuse in the glove box. I have connected all the plugs in the back of the radio. I have tried turning on the top left power button. I get a little orange light by the sos button.
I do have auto lights working, also auto wipers if that is any use. cheers. billy

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
No use at all ... I don't think I've noticed in the discussion, but no sound is coming from the unit (even if the screen would be dead, the sound would be playing) ... an easy way to check if the unit is powered properly is to insert a CD and see if it will gobble it up automatically (whatever you do, don't force the CD in) ... if not (in the low probability that the CD tray is dead), then it would mean that the unit actually doesn't get electricity through the wires or that the unit is dead ... and only then you can proceed properly by eliminating these simple and obvious faultsbillyg55 wrote:I do have auto lights working, also auto wipers if that is any use. cheers. billy

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
It's looking more like the unit itself then, probably why the last owner put in a different unit and couldn't be bothered to repair or replace the original. What's your next step, repair, replace or do nothing?

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
I would recheck the 12V wire just to be sure that it actually sends the power to the connector ... if it does, then it would probably be the unit itself, playing dead in which case one could try to repair it or replace it ... but, in case you get another working nav unit, you won't know if the screen is actually working until you plug it in ... which will make your repair a bit expensive in that case

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Yes but those RNEG units aren't all that common, so I don't think there would be any problems reselling it on if it were not this. The screens very rarely go at all. A Lexia sooner or later wil be needed if replacing it to code the new unit to your vehicle, whether done at the dealer or not. If you are going to test for a live, make sure the car isn't in economy mode.

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Actually a good question, have you tried testing the unit (inserting the CD) with the engine running? If it is the economy mode (the message about this is displayed on the screen, which in your case doesn't show anything anyway, so you wouldn't know about it), most of the electrical stuff in the car gets shut down, including the radio/nav unit ... and you wouldn't get the 12V on the wire in that case
Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
hi again. thanks for all the replies. I think a cheaper option if it is dead is to replace with another unit off the internet. if I buy the lexia diagnostic kit , will I be able to code it myself and configure the other things to make it "talk" to the car ? or is it generally a dealer job ? thanks

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
You can do your own maintenance with the Lexia, no need for a dealer (unless it would be required to connect to the PSA servers, for getting specific car ECU config files, etc, but this then really is a dealer's job, not yours)
Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Hi again. Just an update. Had the car on a diagnostic at a Citroen garage. The man said the bsi module isnt working properly and a new one would be in the region of £400 odd ! Anyway he said an aftermarket radio woild be ok to fit, so i got a pioneer cd player with usb and stuff. Got an iso lead to fit as well. Connected it up and still have no power to the bloody thing ! Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers billy.

Re: c5 radio sat nav issues.
Then it is simple, you don't have a live 12V feed where it normally it would be
