I had motorbikes from the age of 17 up until about 35. I started on a Honda 90, then Daelim DK50, then a Yamaha YB100, Honda NS125-R, and Suzuki After that I had briefly a Suzuki RGV250, which was a mentalists bike, then a Honda CBR600 and a CBR900RR ( a Fireblade )

I've a few scars and had a few screws in me, and I often toy with the idea of a motorcycle again. Maybe one day.. I quite fancy a Ducati Monster, Yamaha Virago 1100 or an early Suzuki Bandit just to potter about on. My days of riding Japanese crotch rockets are definitely over though!

A 1964 Cortina … in 1972.

First question from the tester was where I had learned to drive.
I said with a friend, so at the end of the test he failed me because I didn’t go to the driving school that was somehow just next door to the license office.
The driving school was paying bribes to the testers.

I started learning to drive in 1964,work it out? yes I`m an old fart. The car I used was a Hillman Husky with a side valve engine, must have been late 50`s model?
I was an apprentice at a Rootes Dealer, there was an old guy who used to take us lads out for regular lessons. It was an awfull thing to drive. The clutch juddered so much the gear stick used to wack you on the knee.
I passed my test in that car, came back to the garage and the first car I drove on my own was a brand new Sunbeam Rapier 3A.That was a flash car in those days,I cruised around town like a really cool dude. (those were the days).

If you're an old fart, I don't know how you would describe me. I got my call up papers to go in the army 3 years after the end of WW2. My first driving was done in a Bedford OY truck. That's me sitting on the bonnet.

But I haven't taken to a mobility scooter yet. In fact since I brought my caravan back from Malaga in March, I've got 3 cars thro' the MOT, dug out 2cu.mtrs of soil and laid 6sq.mtrs of block paving. And I've just finished putting a new roof on the garage.
